Very good item
I received this flask last week, and after having used it for some times, I can confirm it's an excellent product. It can keep its content warm (almost hot!) for at least 6 hours, and after 8 hours the food it's still sufficient warm to be appreciated.I would suggest to heat your food on the stove before storing it in (microwave gives a bad "electric" flavour imho).Amazon delivery has been perfect, as usual.

Superb German Engineering!
I read the other reviews on the 1.4l version of this then read the single review on this version. I can wholeheartedly say that I disagree fully with the previous reviewer on this. I've had to find an alternative for winter, we've just moved office and ONE (out of 32!) person complained that "microwave cooking smells bad" so we are now told no microwave in our new office.Mine arrived yesterday. I like the sleek design of it but did wonder if it would work after reading the previous review, despite the reviews on the 1.4l version being fantastic. Before I went to bed at 11am last night I filled it with hot tap water to heat both pots up before boiling the kettle. The kettle I use is a stove top kettle not an electric one that doesn't actually boil the water but just brings it to the boil. I emptied out the hot tap water and filled the plastic inner vessel with boiling water from the kettle. Closed the lid, put it in the flask, closed the second lid and left it on the side. I measured the water temp before I closed the lid. This morning 11 hours later I went to open it. It is very difficult to open because the vacuum created is fierce, even using a rubber mat to help turn the lid I couldn't open it. The only way I could get the lid of was to slide a knife in between the side of the lid to release the vacuum. This is a great shame and my only complaint, a simple button mechanism to release the vacuum would make this flask an even better bit of German engineering!Once I got the lid off, I had to then try to get the lid off the inner pot. Same thing, a big vacuum created as the food cooled, making it impossible to get the lid off despite using various tools (grip pad, lid opening tool). The only way again was to slide a knife in and release the pressure. This would make this impossible for kids to use.Once I cracked into the pot, the temperature was still warm, the same temperature as tap hot water. So not HOT hot hot but still completely useable. The paperwork says it will keep food hot for 6 hours. Well here we are 11 hours later and it is still at a passable heat level. I filled it at 11pm last night - it's now 10am this morning. Admittedly I've not tried it with actual food in (yet) but I'm certainly going to be using it this week with food in.I am highly likely to get the 1.4l version as well so that I can bring in a second pot of cooked up veg to meet my 1/3 of a plate green veg rule. Overall this flask is well worth the money. I've been told with flasks you get what you pay for. I was wary of spending so much on a flask (given that you can buy a microwave for this price) but it has exceeded my expectations. I have had cheaper flasks that kept the food hot for only few hours. I have a 6 hour window from fill to lunch, and I am confident now that I will be able to have hot food at work.

Worth it during the winter colds
Easy to use and keeps food warm up to 7-8 hours. If consumed within 3-4 hours, the food is relatively hot. Comes with 2 seperate containers and able to get in a good size portion of food. The downside is the rubber bands attached to the lids fall off regularly and are a pain to put back into the inside of the lids, otherwise would've given 5 stars.

Works great
So I bought this since I'm on the road quite a lot and thought it would be nice to have a hot dinner after a day's work. A little pricey but I already have an Emsa thermos flask and am happy with it. I tested it out thoroughly before taking it with me, filling both plastic containers with lamb stew straight from the pot. The top started getting warm straight away which kind of worried me but however.Six hours of sitting on a shelf later I cracked it open and tried the first one - scalding hot, as hot as when I put it in, easily. The first time I opened the flask the lid got stuck, presumably because the seal is very tight and the hot air inside expanded a bit, so if you have to wedge something in there the first time don't worry about it.Eight hours after it was first filled, I opened it up and sampled the second plastic container, again hot enough that I needed to let it cool off. I replaced it and finally tried it again after ten hours - lovely, just the right eating temperature.I'm very happy with this fine piece of engineering, and I'm going to modify it a bit by getting having a woolen bag made to prevent it rattling off other metal items in my travel bag. Plus as an added bonus it should act as a further thermal insulator. This is well worth the extra few euro (especially since I expect it to last a lifetime), you can really see where the money is going.

it does the jobs as keeping food warm (sometimes hot)but it's difficult to open the containers as pressures aren't balance inside and out

Very good flask, will not rust or leak.
So i've been using 6 of these for the past year. I make 6 breakfast smoothies on Sundays for the week ahead and directly fill the metal container with them. I don't use the plastic containers that come with this item (well I use them to store pen's and USB drives etc lol, not for food).PROS:Easy to clean. Due to the shape of the container it means there is no crevices etc where mold can grow. E.g like under the rim of thin neck containers. This was one of the only containers I could find that is just a basic cylinder, every other one had a thinner neck and would be more difficult to clean. I use these 6 days a week so I want something easy to clean. Both the lid and container are easy to clean.Durable. Neither the lids or containers themselves or even the plastic handles have been broken/damaged after a year of use.Main metal container is leakproof. It has only leaked twice and both times were because I did not put the top on correctly.Has not rusted. The inside of the container shows no signs of deterioration after a year of use. Some things advertised as "stainless steel" do in fact end up rusting. This container has not rusted.CONS:Price looks like it has gone up since I purchased them (was ~£27 new when I purchased).NOTES:Don't ever force the top on at an angle with these containers. Some containers you can get away with doing this and it'll generally close fine but with these ones it may make the lid get stuck and require the incredible hulk to unscrew the lid again. Or a big chunk of your morning and a towel + gloves + perseverance.

Hot stays hot, cold stays cold!
Handy food thermos with separate portion containers. Great for hot soups and stews on winter walks and cold gazpacho for summer outings with or without the canoe.

Not as good as it looks
I have been using this Thermo Lunch for over half a year by now and I am not satisfied with its engineering and quality.Usually I use it to carry my meal (soup) to the office. However if you fill up the food container with hot soup, a few hours later the container will deform. See attached photos. This happens because when liquid and air inside the container cools, the pressure drops and the container collapses. It is almost impossible to open a food container with such a negative pressure inside of it.Regular thermo containers have a special pressure button on top of them to equalize pressure. Nevertheless, internal container of this Thermo Lunch does not have such button and it is not hard enough structurally to withstand pressure difference. In addition, I've noticed a few rusty dots on the bottom of the outside steel box that appeared 3 month after I've purchased this Thermo Lunch. The good thing is that the liquids inside are sealed and this thermo container never leaked.
