Effective but don't expect it to have a long life.
I used this to make sweets (lemon drops) which came out really well when I took them off the heat just as they hit hard crack. Unfortunately after a couple of uses the outer casing shattered after I took the thermometer out of very hot liquid. I will be buying something more durable for future use but I don't regret buying this as a first thermometer whilst I decided if I wanted to use one a lot.

Good value for money.
Good value for money. Did what was asked of it to make homemade toffee as I could clip it onto the edge of the pan. Quite quick delivery considering how far it had to come.
