When this procook reversible griddle arrived it was indeed pre seasoned BUT I like washing my cookware etc prior using (unsure of chemical residue and just my personal preference)I gave it a good wash with a bit of dish washing liquid, rinse, dried, then placed it on the stovetop on low heat. I brushed the 1st side with olive oil, took it off the heat, flipped it over and brushed the other side.The next day I put the griddle, flat side up on high heat, brushed with a little oil and did me 4 large steaks and veg (to deglaze the griddle yum!)I've done burgers, steaks, pork chops, shrimp and veg ever since on this griddle...it's big enough to feed a fam of four there isn't any rust, the food doesn't stick and it's not a pain to clean.I "season" it before I use it and after I clean it and it works a charm.It used to take me FOREVER to do a batch of pancakes but now it takes no time at all. We actually get to enjoy them while they're still hot!4 stars because I like my butter and since the edges are so low if I'm not careful it spills over onto the stovetop.It fits ok over the two back burners but I'm sure if it was a little wider to accommodate deeper or higher lips/edge it would allow for more liquid but if it WAS any wider I won't have been able to use the front burners to prepare other sides at the same time... so its give and take I guess :)Other than that, good quality material, real heavy, heats up quickly, retains its heat, I like it.

This is a great item.
On the first couple of uses, food did stick a bit and that is with seasoning the griddle. I also found that the room was filling with smoke and the smoke alarm was going off.Now however, nothing sticks, even skinless chicken breasts. It is also now easy to clean and I have eliminated the smoke by heating on full for 5 minutes, putting the food on and then lowering the heat.Initially with the issues I was tempted to give up but don't. I have only used this 4 times and now I love it. I have cooked chicken, marinated pork, steak. GrIlled vegetables, home made burgers. The more times you use this, the more non stick it gets. I clean mine with a soft brush and season every time by following the instructions that come with it.

Great griddle
I bought this griddle as my new cooker came with a ridged one which is excellent for streaks etc but I wanted a flat surface for pancakes, frying onions, mushroom, egg..... I am very pleased with it, it heats well, cooks great and is easy to wash. I am waiting to use it on our bbq, when the rain ever stops.

Keen Cooks, great addition to any kitchen.
Perfect size for the cooker spreading over two burners for even heat distribution, it's reversible for your Scotch/American pancakes, welsh cakes, etc.The griddle is perfect for steaks and charing anything, it weighs a tonne, however it's well worth the money and a great addition to any keen cooks kitchen.

Too heavy for indoor use
Its extremely heavy!! I can't stress this enough. Description said it was suitable for a hob, which is the reason I bought it. However, its so heavy with a pointy rim as a stand, I'm worried about scratching the hob top. I'd say its perfect for an outside BBQ, but I doubt I'll be using it on the hob.

No more messy barbecue grids.
Arrived promptly and in good condition. Fitted perfectly on barbecue and proved successful as it used whole of bbq area and lip on griddle meant fat/ juices did not dribble down onto burner. Read instructions on booklet for non stick cooker wear before you begin as it has to be seasoned!! Before use. It would be more helpful if manufactures had a large A 4 leaflet prominently put with it when it arrived !!!

Once I put it in the roasting oven food cooked really quickly and had lovely coloured ridges (much better than a normal roasting dish)
I bought this for the top of my Aga but it took ages to heat up and never seemed hot enough as there is a ridge that prevents direct contact with the Aga plate. Once I put it in the roasting oven food cooked really quickly and had lovely coloured ridges (much better than a normal roasting dish). Nothing has stuck to it when cooking and I use it all the time. I now roast nearly all my vegtables and the flavour is more intense. To clean I just use a damp cloth and then put it in my warmer oven to dry and store so it will not rust.

Really great value - I got this to replace a griddle ...
Really great value - I got this to replace a griddle supplied with my swanky big oven that was simply disintegrating soon after use. Why good value? Well the one provided with the oven is over £70.00 to replace and this ProCook is less than half the price and leaves it standing.
