Great Little Remote
Again another GoPro necessity. Especially if you want those all important selfie shots. It can be a bit of a fiddle to link up to the GoPro but once you have it done just leave it as is that's what I do. I don't find it drains the battery when not in use. To link it up all you do is access the settings menu on the GoPro, switch your WiFi on and then switch RC on and hey presto everything that is on the front screen of the GoPro is on the screen of the remote. The remote has a built in battery which lasts a lot longer than the GoPro one. As it is only running that small screen which has no back light. You charge it with a usb cable that comes with it. And I have seen a lot of people asking if it is waterproof and I can say yes it is. It is waterproof to 10m. But please note that WiFi signal doesn't work underwater. Maybe useful for snorkelling or of if you are out in the rain. All in all this is a great little remote which makes life a lot easier with the GoPro. I would definitely say it is worth the price just for an easier life and better photos without your arm in it or remembering how long you have set your timer for! Happy Snapping!

Expensive, but extremely useful.
Bought for use with a HERO4 silver. The pairing is easy, & duplicates the functions & screen on the camera. It may not sound the most useful item, but the ability to switch the camera on & off (recording mode) from one hand, while pointing & shooting with the camera (on a hand mount) in the other, is extremely useful & allows for a smooth recording process. It's pricey for what it is, (GoPro's motto) but it does it all seamlessly, & I wouldn't be without it. Replicating the screen gives you the confidence it's all set up to go, & the flashing red light tells you it is actually recording in the mode you want. I don't know what range it will work over, but for truly remote work it looks great. Yes you can do this with a the free phone app, not not in the palm of your hand, or as subtly..... or for as many hours on the remote battery. Another useful feature is to be able to power down both the remote & GoPro, from the remote... & wake them both back up again! The wireless part of the GoPro stays active (blue light flashes) awaiting a signal.

Must have for a better GoPro experience!
A question people always ask is, why spend an absurd amount of money on a remote when I can just pair my GoPro with my smartphone using the GoPro app? I found the answer through experience. Convenience. I no longer have to reach into my pocket for my phone. I no longer fear damaging my phone in a undesirable environment. My filming and photo-taking experience using my GoPro has improved dramatically with this remote. It was easy to pair it with my GoPro, done in less than a minute! Charging the remote can be done via a USB cable and it replicates the functions on the GoPro itself, hence once paired, I do not even need to touch the main device (except to set off the WiFi). I have not yet fully tested the capability of the remote, nor have I tested the battery life, but so far, my experience with it was flawless! Highly recommended for a better GoPro experience.

A good advanced remote for GoPros with a couple of design issues
An excellent, well built remote for the newer GoPro 4 cameras - stable, reliable connection with combined BT / Wifi connections to help conserve power (BT is constant to activate WiFi only when needed) and lots of functionality. However... * Set up instruction are not as simple as they could be - you need to use the small LCD on the front of the GoPro 4 NOT the larger, clearer LCD on the back of the 4 Silver as there are extra functions displayed on the front screen compared to the back! * Could really do with a couple more buttons as the 3 makes accessing some menu functions more complicated than it needs to be * Strongly DISLIKE the propriety charging cable - I realise it needs to be water proof to some extent but this one is unnessariliy over engineered in my opinion. Dropped a Star due to a combination of the above but once its up and running its simple and you can trust it to start and stop the shot / video remotely, which is what counts really.

Must Have!
This go pro remote is great and a must have for anyone with a go pro. The differnce this makes when taking videos and photos is amazing as it makes it much more simple. The remot has a great battery life and has an amazin distance at which it will work away from the camera! The quality speaks for itself with go pro product and they have not let me down as this remote might be pricy but its worth every single penny. Hihgly reccomended

Does the job, but screen too dim
The remote paired easily with GoPro 7 Black and functioned as expected, making for much easier operation of the device when on an extended poll. It does seem to be a drain on the battery when connected, but that is to be expected. Only been using for a few days, but seems robust and well made. I do have an issue with the screen - it is small, very dim and seems very sensitive to viewing angle. If all you want to do is switch mode and operate shutter, it is fine; but if you want to change settings (other than mode) via the remote then the screen size and dim display make it difficult read and to select the required options. The screen reminds me of early digital watches; really think in this day and age GoPro could do better! Overall seems a good product, does what its supposed to do, but let down by on device display.

Smart Option for Multiple GoPRo's
It's a good idea to have one of these remotes if you carry a number of GoPro's in your kit bag. The remote can have up to 50 GoPro's paired via the GoPro WiFi comms option and makes syncing of content capture simple to do. I can have up to 4 GoPro's set up at any one time, usually placed around my motorbike or sometimes on other riders bikes. As long as you are within around 10 meters you can simply hit a the record button and have them all trigger at the same time. The remote also gives you the option to change the capture state (and other settings) of your GoPro's from video/loop to photo modes. Great if you are using GoPro Sessions which are always fiddly to configure. The biggest advantage is that you can start and stop recording capturing only of the content you want without having to have the camera's rolling all the time. This saves you having to trawl through vast amounts of unwanted video when editing, but more importantly saves space on your SD card and also extends the battery life of the power hungry GoPro's, which means you don't miss out on crucial action shots.

Hopeless, not fit for purpose
Got this specifically for a job involving large machinery (bulldozers) where I would need to set the cameras up & then activate at specific times and needed to do it remotely as once the dozers were in action I couldn't stop them. Had multiple issues getting the cameras to connect & stay connected so I updated both (Hero 7 Black) to the latest firmware, then again manually, reset the 'smart' remote. Seemed to work ok in the office although when the battery is changed they reset and you have to pair again (this is a 'feature' according to the GoPro rep on their help chat). Got on site, paired the cameras & remote, the dozers started work and the remote completely failed to pick up either camera. They were less than 20m from me and still no connection whatsoever. I wasted an entire day's filming thanks to this hopeless remote and the opportunity to film this was a one off. I was fuming. I had also hoped that GoPro might have worked out how you could control multiple cameras independently with the remote but it either switches them both on & off at the same time or not at all, as in my experience. GoPro connectivity has always been flaky in my experience but these days this is unacceptable. Very disappointed.
