Excellent book for teaching inverse problems

My favorate book of geophysical inverse theory
You can find a lot of books about geophysical inverse problems, like Rick Aster's or John Scales'. Those books were design for geophysical applications thus does not focus on the mathematical background of the inverse theory. While there is also a huge number of inverse problem books written by mathematician, they may be too rigorous in math and too obscure to understand for geophysicists. This book perfectly serves as a bridge from mathematical inverse theory to geophysical application, it explains the pure math in an acceptable way with a lot of impressive geophysical examples. I love it!

This book contains a beautiful combination of math and geophysics
This book contains a beautiful combination of math and geophysics, you don't sense any parts of mathematic is redundant. It is very interesting that the seismic section gives you complete information about full waveform inversion that I have not found in any other books.
