MotoGP: The Illustrated History Hardcover – September 19, 2017

Overall a very good read. The book paints a vivid picture of how the sport has evolved so much over time from so many different perspectives (technology, safety, political, geographic, etc.). I also found coverage of the major riders, including exclusive interviews, especially interesting. Photography is very good too given the eras that the book covers. If I have a complaint it is that, while the book flows chronologically from chapter to chapter, within each chapter (dedicated roughly to a decade each) the author tends to bounce a round in time a lot covering the same time periods from the perspective of different riders or manufacturers. That combined with language that becomes a little TV news 'sportscasty' at times and the reader can sometimes get a little lost. However, overall a very good book that provides an engaging history of MotoGP racing.

This is a great read for anyone interested in the history of Grand Prix Racing, the teams, and the evolution of the machinery and safety equipment over the years. This is too huge a subject for any one book to cover, but it gives you a good overall look and 12 wonderful interviews with some of the greatest racers of all time. The pictures are worth the price of admission alone. All in all a great book about a fascinating and dangerous sport. And it reminds us how truly heroic the old racers were for often competing on real roads at incredible speeds with very little margin for error. All the while wearing very modest protective gear. Michael Scott did a great job of putting these series of books together.

Fun book, awesome visuals. I got it for my young kids because they love motorcycles. They look at the pictures while i skim the text and read them some easy stuff.

I browsed through this book and have only just started reading, however, I am very impressed. If you, or anyone you know, is a fan of Grand Prix motorcycle racing from years ago, or the current Moto GP scene, this is a wonderful source of entertainment and information. The photos are terrific and the interviews with riders like Roberts, Read, Agostini, etc., are superb. The used hardcover price on Amazon.com is less than one copy of most monthly motorcycle magazines and far more interesting. This is a genuine " keeper " for any motorcyclist library.

It's a really nice detailed book. The thing that bothers me is the fact that it goes up until 2017 but only 1 picture of Marquez at beginning and none where it talks about current riders. I love rossi but he got a bunch of pics and there could of been more of other currant riders imo.

Terrific book which gives the early history of the GP's and the 'golden age' in more detail. Lots of background on key characters, along with brief descriptions of the characteristics of key bikes.

A nice big glossy coffee table book for my Moto GP daft husband. He's been lamenting the fact that he can't now watch Moto GP without either signing up to BT Broadband or paying Sky more cash. He may well cave in and pay up, but at least this was a Christmas consolation prize: a well produced book with some excellent photos that even I can appreciate. Thanks, Amazon.
