I happened upon this product reading an article and tried the shampoo and conditioner. The smell is very light and doesn't bother my sensitivity to smells that can trigger anything from a headache to asthma. More importantly, it is very good to my hair and the results are noticeable after one use. Will be buying over and over again.

I love both this shampoo and conditioner. With hormonal changes and sensitive skin, this product has been a saving grace for gently cleaning hair and scalp without harsh chemicals. My scalp feels great, hair looks smooth and feels soft and manageable. It also has a nice sweet and grounding vanilla and cocoa buttery scent.

After using Aveda products since my college days I begin developing serious scalp issues: burning, itching, small bumps all over my scalp and neck. Switched to Prose which worked four about one half year, then the same problems re-emerged, only worse. These high priced products use a cocktail of natural ingredients, but if you are allergic to them, you are out of look. I tried Grandpas on a fluke, stumbled upon it here on Amazon. Started with the Pine Tar Shampoo and Conditioner, they cleared up my scalp. I tried the Buttermilk which has really had a positive effect on my hair. Reduced frizz and smoothed out my hair. I have baby fine straight hair that curled up massively when using Prose, the Buttermilk keeps my fine hair straight and soft. This is a very good product.

Mixed thoughts. Seems drying, but cleanses oily hair well.

I love this shampoo. My thick, dry, somewhat coarse curly hair loves this shampoo. It works up a serious lather- a little bit goes a long way. I dilute it heavily with water before I work it into my hair. That said, it's very gentle and moisturizing while also leaving my hair feeling clean. My hair feels better and styles better after I wash it with this stuff.There's no fragrance, only a faint hint of buttermilk that doesn't linger in my hair at all. That's a refreshing change of pace for someone who's tired of all these smelly products on the market.

Works great on my beard. Keeps it from frizzing and curling

I use Grampa's bath soaps and thought I would give this a try. I have very long, natural hair and it leaves it VERY clean feeling and soft. I want to get away from all the chemicals in the big producers of body care. There is no real scent to this, maybe the SLIGHTEST hint of milky something but not much. Also, even with long hair, a little goes a LONG way. Good lather, not that lather ='s clean.

I do not find the buttermilk shampoo it to be good for my dry hair. I'm not too impressed with the job it does with only one lather. As it is sulfate-free, it's normal to repeat, but if I do, my hair will actually squeak. It does smell nice -- a very delicate honey smell. In all, I may finish the bottle, but I won't buy it again.It's been a few weeks. As it turns out, it does work very well as a body wash.
