Moonshots: 50 Years of NASA Space Exploration Seen through Hasselblad Cameras

Although the title of this book says “Moonshot", it's not all about the lunar missions. And although it also says, "...as seen through the Hasselband Cameras' many of the photos in the book were not taken by a Hasselband. And not all the images are photographs as the title would have you believe. There are also artist's renderings. I had high hopes when I ordered this book, but was immensely disappointed when I looked through it. Most of the photos have been published in other books over the past 49 years. There is nothing new in this book that I haven't seen in other volumes. I would have assumed that the author would have made an attempt to search through the thousands of NASA photos for unique, never before seen photos to make this book a masterpiece. Not so. He went the easy route and took what was already out there and attached a misleading title to his book so suckers like me could be taken in.

One of the best coffee table size book of photos on the Apollo missions ever published. Also includes pre and post-Apollo chapters loaded with beautiful photographs of Mercury, Gemini, Skylab, Shuttle and the International Space Station. From a graphics standpoint, this book is very nicely laid out with tiny thumbnail photo descriptions of the following few pages worth of full page photos. Finall, the book is enclosed in a thick board slipcase with die-cut phases of the Moon that cleverly allow the book cover's lunar surface image to show through.My one very minor complaint is that some photos mostly involving the Lunar Module on the Moon seem to have the color and contrast boosted.

A must have account of U.S. space exploration, vividly photographed and bound in a fantastic book! The included slipcase further enhances the overall beauty and detail that went into the publishing of this book, and proves that some volumes deserve a hardcopy release. Don't miss this one!

Amazing record of the Apollo moon missions. The next time your crazed uncle pulls out the blotchy xerox of a supposed fake moon picture, you can show him this HD and honest record of the American heros that went to the moon and put men onto the moon.

This book is well worth the money, it is an incredible collection of pictures, very interesting and informative, with an overview of each Apollo mission and some additional pictures from Gemini, Shuttle, and ISS.The book itself is high quality with a nice slipcase that should help it last for many years.

My husband loves space science and is an engineer. He loves this book. I bought it without the benefit of reviews for him and was glad I did. So I am writing a review so you will know that, if you are looking for a book that an intelligent space science person will enjoy, go for it!

I work at NASA so I think it's safe to say that I'm a huge space nerd. This is honestly one of the most beautiful books I have ever owned. Buy it. You won't regret it.

This magnificent book contains so many beautiful photos of the greatest era, that being the American Space Programs. 'Moonshots' provides 50 years of an exciting time where the "can do and will do" was such a pleasure to be part of.

I rarely do reviews but I saw a rather negative review of this book from Amazon US. I nearly cancelled the item as a result but I must say I’m glad I didn’t. I have only just received the item so these are very early impressions.athe review seemed to complain about three areas. Too much text,that the images were not large ,and a suggestion of poor reproduction.To answer these in order There is perhaps more text than in other similar books but I would not consider it excessive.As to image size most are Large one image to a page although they are not full bleed images .Reproduction seems to my eyes good. To be fair there has been more artistic books on the subject and perhaps with better reproduction but they tend to go out of print .In my view the book is good quality

Terrific book fantastic photographs. Only four stars as who ever did the editing should be fired as the index is all wrong. Nothing and I mean NOTHING ties up!Simple example is there are 238 pages in the book but the index makes reference to pages 243 and 245 its a real shame as its other wise terrific but for the money I expected better.

I got this as a Christmas present from my son. It is fabulous - amazing photography all packaged up in a deluxe book and slipcase. I am a huge fan of the Apollo Moon programme of the 1960s- early 1970s and this is a great addition to my collection of books and memorabilia of the period.
