Very well made and keeps my houdini from backing out of his harness
This harness is very sturdy and easy to adjust. My dog was able to back out of the other harnesses I bought for him, and then the chase was on. He has not been able to do that with this one. It's easy to put on him - just slide his head through the front and tuck his right front leg through the strap, then snap the two straps in place. I especially like the handle on the back for those occasions when he wants to lunge at a squirrel or be otherwise restrained - much safer and easier on your hands then relying on the leash. There's also a small loop on the back where you can clip a light or extra poop bags. It washes well. The light color of the gray helped reflect strong sunlight this summer - my dog is black and that can be an issue when it's hot out. I highly recommend this harness and think it's well worth the price.

Snug As A Comfy Straightjacket!
I have tried everything. Walk-in harnesses, general, everyday harnesses, and even the popular Joyride harness (great harness, btw), but they just weren't "the one." It's even more difficult with a long, slender basset hound that pulls ALL THE TIME. This harness.... As long as you measure your dog properly... I don't see how it couldn't be the perfect harness for any athletic dog. It's amazing! And it's stitched so sturdy, with both a metal ring and a separate, fabric ring, too, to pick from where to leash. It fits so perfectly after adjustment, even though it's bulkier than some harnesses, it fits comfortably. It doesn't lean side to side as much as other harnesses that hook on the top of the back. It stays in place. And the handle is very reinforced. If you have a basset hound, you HAVE to have a handle. This harness is rugged and perfect for any dog that hikes a lot. What a quality harness. You really do get what you pay for. This harness is worth every penny. Thank you! It's a lifesaver!

Buy this it now, your dog will thank you later!
A wonderful harness that EVERY dog owner needs. There's a few reasons why... My dog cannot escape from this! Not sure how dogs were escaping from it. Maybe it wasn't snug enough on there dog? (Note you should be able to place 2 fingers in the straps, the back strap I can fit only 1 finger in to ensure he does not escape) We hike long distance together. Usually he's on a 10-30foot lead depending where we hike. This harness releases the pressure off his neck Incase he goes for a rabbit. (So he doesn't choke or hurt himself on a collar) This is a heavy duty harness and worth the price. I love the reflective trim that doesn't stand out too crazy but still does its job. The red is perfect and stands out. We also love this harness because of its handle on the back! There are two points you can attach your leash. I prefer the metal d ring personally. We use the handle when he gets stuck I can quick grab the handle and encourage him to move. I chose a picture of him running to show how this harness doesn't effect his movement at all. We tried the front range harness but because of my dogs awkward sizing of his very deep chest and size small neck. It was restricting his movements. My dogs neck size is a small, but his girth is a size large he's also 75lbs. The webmaster in a medium size fits him 100% perfect. Really rare to find a harness that fits his awkward shaped body (oh the joys of owning a rescue dog. Lol) Another note, we tried other harnesses (cheaper ones...) and it rubbed very bad on his chest and right behind his front legs where's there not much fur. This is the only harness that hasn't caused any rubbing anywhere or any discomfort. Basically, this is the best harness ever for your dog. Whether you hike long-distance or go on daily walks you dog needs this harness, your dog will than you later. ;) If you don't believe me go on Facebook or Instagram and look up the hashtag #Ruffwear. Every dog is happy and excited to be wearing there ruffwear, outside in the wilderness with there human companion.

Works great for small cats, with minor modifications
This is a pretty good harness. I looked a long time for a harness for a tiny Siamese cat, and there are not any quality ones to be found, they are mostly just thin nylon straps that go around the neck and upper torso. My cat really hates wearing those types of harnesses, and tension on the line is obviously uncomfortable for him. My cat has a really long/slender body, with a long neck, and a small head, so he can just back out of them if he tries, or get a foot through. So... I bought this in XXS. Each of the 3 neck straps were around 3 inches too long when adjusted to the smallest fit (dogs have massive necks/heads). However, I was able to fix this by stitching the strap back in on itself and then pushing the loop i made into the Y, which allowed me to get the neck much tighter, so that there is only a 1/2 inch gap between the Y and top shoulder straps. The straps are very easy to sew through with a thin needle. Did the same thing for the chest-neck strap. Had no trouble with the chest/waist straps, just had to tighten them quite a bit so that the pads nearly touch the end of the harness. It's not a big deal though, because I was able to move the plastic adjuster to the middle of the length, fold the extra length of the strap over, and hide it all in the middle of the padded strap. I think this design would be a lot better for small animals if the neck straps were better adjustable. Unlike the other straps, they are a closed loop, so they can only be tightened as far as the circular plastic piece can slide, as there is no loose piece of strapping to pull. This really reduces the amount they can be adjusted to only a few inches. I would have liked to be able to get the neck a bit tighter, but I would have then needed a snap-release to remove the harness, which is not present. I also feel that the rear loop on the back of the harness is not suitable for attaching a leash, as it is too wide and the clip moves around a lot. It is also just a small piece of nylon that is not attached that well to the harness. It would have been nicer to have a D-ring on the back to keep the fastener from sliding around, or at least have the nylong loop smaller. I may go in and sew it down to make a much tighter loop so it is more usable, as that point of attachment prevents the leash from getting tangled up around the head/front legs on a smaller animal. The price of the product is pretty high, but it is a quality item. I would have liked to give it 5 stars. If the neck was better adjustable on the XXS version, and the second leash attachment point was better, it would be a solid 5 star product. Edit: I ended up taking the stitching out of the 3 neck pieces, the plastic adjusters, and just sewing the straps manually to fit, that way they get much tighter and fit perfectly.

Best Harness Ever

I was initially reluctant to buy this because of the price. Consequently I have probably spent the equivalent on inferior harnesses before finally investing in the Ruffwear Web Master. I have a dog who is an odd shape. Her head is smaller than her neck which means collars don't stay on. And she is the Houdini dog this harness appears to have been made for. With every other harness we have tried she manages to drop her head, pull back, give a wiggle and off it comes. So anytime we have a disagreement over which way we are going, or something spooks her, she wins the battle. Walking became quite a worry in case she got out of her harness and ran over a road. This harness adjusts at the front, middle and then critically, behind the stomach. The back section is fairly rigid and has a handy handle for picking the dog up. (I guess its designed for helping them over obstacles, but also very useful for having the final say when they want to go in a different direction!) This rigidity helps with preventing the harness from bunching up and pulling over the head when the dog goes into reverse. The back strap also prevents it from pulling off without the need to have it too tight. So the dog is comfortable - even when sitting - and safe. The first time we tried it on a reluctant walk my dog threw a bit of a tantrum. Picture the doggy version of a two year old in the supermarket after being told, "no you can't have sweets". She tried her usual backing out of the harness, and when this didn't work threw herself on the ground, twisted, rolled, rubbed against objects, and generally tried every possible contortion to get out of it. Meanwhile I stood quite calmly and had a chuckle. Eventually I got my way for once and she had to concede to walking in the direction I wanted to go. Quite happily I might add! For the first time ever I won! Worth every penny just for that!

Our dog loves it and so do we! Having a harness for walking a French Bulldog makes all the difference. He’s more comfortable, and when necessary we have more control. The harness looks like a cute little backpack and the color is great too! Very high quality material. For French Bulldogs, I would recommend going up one size just to be sure it fits. We went with the large and I had to extends the torso straps out to their fullest extent to comfortably fit our dog.
