I figured I'd write a detailed review... people need to know!My parents have a 5th wheel (camper) that has a coaxial line running from the main room where the TV satellite receiver is, all the way to the master bedroom on the other side. The new receiver they were forced to switch to no longer had coaxial (of course), but just HDMI and component video. Thankfully I'm a bit of a techie and found this gem which did the trick. We hooked up the main room TV with HDMI, then used this modulator to grab the component video signal from the other receiver output and pump it over coax to the master bedroom. This particular model has an RF and video gain knob, unlike the clones that look just like it. This comes in handy for sensitive applications where you do not want to overdrive the signals; I was able to keep the knobs both to 100% for maximum clarity without having to find a sweet spot which is an added bonus if my parents need to ever adjust it in the future. Be careful when adjusting the tiny plastic adjustment knobs, they're sitting on top of the variable resistors on the circuit board and if you apply to much force you'll snap it off! I was worried this happened to me, but realized it was just a little hard to turn at first. The instruction page that comes with this modulator is fantastic, and shows all the frequencies for each setting. You will need this to switch between PAL/NTSC and specific audio/video frequencies. If you do retrogaming, this device is very handy if you have an older TV that requires a coaxial connection.PROS:*Very sharp clean picture THAT WASN'T FUZZY*Easy setup*Detailed English manual which is easy to understand*Flexible applications and highly customizable unlike the other crap modulators out there*Great for retrogaming on old TV's that require an RF signalCONS:*None really! Although, a charger didn't come with it, that is potentially a good thing! I can use my own branded Samsung charger than some cheap piece of crap just thrown in the box, which is more reliable and provides cleaner power, thus extending the life of the device. No stars docked there!*The red channel setting LED on top is not toggleable, so if the brightness bothers you, put a sticky note over it or hide the unit like I did.Installation:*Took 5 minutes and required no tools. I did end up using a 6 foot USB cable instead of the short one that comes with it, in order to hide the unit out of sight under the cable grommet behind the receiver.*Everything you'll need is in the box EXCEPT a phone charger you'll need to provide it with power. I used a Samsung 900mA charger and it worked fine, though a 500 mA charger would likely be fine too for such a low power application.*After hooking cables up, it was a simple matter of tuning the TV to the right channel. For some reason, I had to eventually tune the tv to channel 65 (NTSC), but it worked flawlessly; this is after I played with different channels on unit, so don't think it'll be the same for you. I did try different audio frequencies, though my TV only liked one of them.*I recommend running the autoprogram/autotune on your TV (if it has that feature) when installing so you don't have to click the channel buttons 80 times searching for the right channel.Usage:It just works. Turn TV on... and there's your picture. I keep it powered 24/7.
