what happen? to the Quality
After day 3 the glass became clouded, from baking for the holidays at this point I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THE TOP OF THE OVEN TEMP. GAUGE elite #603 for 30.00 don't waste your money buy a different one for this is my 2nd I bought 1 about a week and half ago the glass cracked on that one and decided that you get what you pay for not so. I have always used a Taylor pocket gauge they still work fine and my pocket gauge is about 20 plus years old from drops on many times on concrete on hard tile floors it looks and works great Taylor needs to do there home work on oven gauges

good deal for the money
I purchased this oven thermometer because I became convinced that my oven temperature was not accurate to the setting. The Taylor Elite 603 Oven Thermometer proved my suspicions were correct and now I can, with the use of the Taylor Elite , adjust my oven settings to the menu required temperature. Works great!!

Markings fade quickly
After about a month in our oven, the red markings had faded to a tan/brown color. They fade more with each use, so I expect they'll be invisible in a few more months.

Works well for me
I had been learning how to bake bread, but my loaves were burning. I bought this to check my oven temperature and discovered that my oven was 50 degrees high. Now my loaves are perfectly browned. It seems then that this thermometer is accurate enough. I leave it clipped to the oven shelf next to the bread. It is easy enough to read through the oven door with the assistance of a flashlight if the window is reasonably clean. Markings are clear.I have read some reviews that similar thermometers don't respond quickly enough. I haven't checked response time on this, I just leave it in the oven and it seems to keep up with the oven during preheating. I wasn't expecting "instant read" capability.
