These worked great to replace the canvas/nylon straps that I had on my rack. The original straps had deteriorated after about 5 years of leaving the bike rack installed on my car for the hole riding season. These saved me from the expense of a new rack. I heated up the rubber to get them over the tubes but that just made it a bit easier. Probably could have done it even if I didn't heat them up. I just would have had to exert a bit more pressure to get them on. I think I might have used a little petroleum jelly as well. Can't remember, it was a while ago. Latching the bike onto the rack is much easier and quicker now with these stretchy rubber clasps when compared the the strap method that the rack originally came with.

Much more durable than the ones supplied with generic bike racks. They're solid and won't snap like the thin ones that come with the inexpensive racks.

Fit great on my Bell bike rack

I ordered these for an old Bell trunk 2-bike rack. Years ago, we broke the one latch. Then we quit riding our bikes. Flash forward, we now have a toddler and "Old Arthur" has my knees a mess and riding a bike fares me better than running. We had a bike trailer but couldn't go anywhere but our community because of the broken strap. I ordered a new bike rack for my car. No matter what we tried, we couldn't get it tight. But the Bell one was so easy to get on the car, as well as tighten enough for a safe trip. I was reluctant on ordering but took a chance on the 6 pack. I love that it comes with the covered screws. I also have arthritis in my hands, but once I loosened the screws, the cradles slid into place easily. A quick retighten and attaching the straps, we are back in business. I like the softer rubber inside the cradle as the original cradles didn't hold my bike as nicely on the harder plastic. I also appreciate the extra cradles (since I only needed 4), but feel these are actually more sturdy than the originals. If your looking for new cradles for a rack with 1inch diameter, these are perfect.

Two of four parts that I installed cracked along the section that the tube "slides" through (see first picture). The parts were very hard to install even when used soap to lube and had to use a rubber mallet. Cause of Problem - Cross section of hole that the tube goes through is oval and the narrow part is less than 1" diameter of tube. This causes a lot of stress on the plastic part as you force the part onto the tube. The seller does not indicate that there is a hidden screw under side covered by rubber saddle (see second picture) that can be loosened to allow more give in oval section when pushing the tube through. I found it much easier to press part onto tube once I loosened the screw. I then tightened the screw after install to secure part better.
