Morel Maximo Ultra 602 6-1/2" Car Audio Component Speaker System

I have a 2018 Tundra and I hated the premium audio. It lacks bass, the highs were out of range and it rattled. So I finally got all my ducks in a row and decided to remove the interior... the whole interior except for the dash. Using the kenwood dsp 800 and the ar meastro, I got to work on an amp rack. I places the first channels for the 2.5 midrange. The compnent set (these speakers) are great. On their own, under the right conditions they are perfect... but not overcoming the other complexities in a car. Now I chose to get the 2.5 midrange separately as I needed to have set control over that set. If those didn’t get set right in the fr then on to the next one. But... lots of potential. The components in the doors were fun. I had mounts made by another company. They were almost 100% but close enough to be great for the application. A little trim here, and little shave there and boom. The morel woofer fit like a glove. Unless it was the glove used in the OJ trial. I used sound ringsfor a couple of reasons, one. Of all the money I spent I found 20 bucks would not break the bank, 2. You’ll never know until you try. Not a WOW WHOA AWESOMEO effect, but it affects the sound in a positive way that does help. So now it was time to mount the speakers. I gathered my effects and mounted the crossover. I used tessa tape to do some minor damnpening for two hard items touching. Then a splash of sound deadened and I was on my way. I had to modify the door sail but it worked well and I can remove them in case I sell the truck. The rears got much of the same treatment ecxept I just used coaxials. No need for tweeters back there. Using an iPad, for the mics and audio control app, and my Mac to play the appropriate pink noise I started tuning. Took a while but it just needed final tweaks. A pinch of time alignment along with some curse word sorcery and boom. I did subs but that is another review. In all, these are entry speakers - but - when you add the 2.5 midrange you get a great 3way set up while saving at least one hundred bucks.

These speakers came with the right side blown and then the left side blew 2 weeks later. Had them running off an amp that I tuned with an O-Scope, so there was no distorted signal but they still blew. Amp was rated at 80x4, and the RMS on these speakers are 100.... Not worth the 300 bucks spent on these speakers. Look elsewhere.

Installed these in a 2016 Ford Edge SUV with light sound deadening (some NVX "dynomat") and they sound really good. Driving them actively so I can't comment on the crossovers. Amplifier rating for the woofers is ~125 watts RMS while amplifier rating for the tweeters is ~50 watts RMS Using a RF DSR-1 to run the crossovers. Running the woofers with a 24 db/octave slope bandpass from 125 Hz - 3000 Hz and the tweeters with a 24 db/octave slope high pass from 3000 Hz - 20 KHz. The tweeters are very bright (especially with their placement in this car) but once I dialed them back they sound great. I haven't done a full RTA tune yet (did some basic time alignment and rudimentary tuning by ear) and even without the full tune they still put a big smile on my face every time I turn up the music. Mid-bass reproduction is strong and matches the subwoofer in the build well. I am a big fan of Morel speakers and these don't disappoint.

For the reasonable price, these speakers sound absolutely amazing!!! I love them and would recommend them to anyone and everyone!!!!!

Man I’m torn on writing this review. These sound amazing and I’ve been really stoked on them but after barely 2 months both woofers cut out with one of them occasionally coming in. After testing every other aspect of my system I had them professionally diagnosed and they found one had an open short, no impedance reading, no nothing, completely dead. The other one tested fine for them but was not putting out sound for me, nor would it for them when I originally had them troubleshoot it before full diagnostics by way of connecting a different speaker to the crossover and that speaker got output. I am still baffled they told me it works, it sure fooled me. Apparently it is in some kind of limbo between working and not working. It was of the technicians conclusion that the speaker that definitely does not work, was really likely the result of a factory/manufacturing defect in the circuit over time. It was well within limits and connected to quality hardware, there was no reason for this to happen. These sound great and I wish I didn’t get lemons or the quality wasn’t seemingly apparently junk sometimes. I would give it 1 star because this is absolutely unacceptable for such a pricey set of “entry level” speakers from a reputable high end brand, but they sound so good I can’t get myself to do it so I’ll settle on a 2. I reached out to the seller Dynamic Autosound for warranty inquiries and hopeful replacements but I am not holding my breath. I’ll update this review if I get any decent results from that.

Tweeters are a bit piercing, but easily toned down on the deck. The 6.5 sound flat and compressed compared to my 6x9 up front. They’re okay but glad they’re not in the front

My first pair of component speakers. WOW! Two pairs of these on a quality four chan. amp and my Mmats 2000 watt sub set up. Sounds out of this world!!!! By the way my head unit is a pioneer DEH-80prs.

These speakers are really great. They’re well worth the price. I have a set in my car and now I’m my son’s car and both systems sound fantastic.

Ordered Morel ultra 602(as advertised) But instead receive Maximo(see picture ).Lasted two weeks, 1crossover let go and on the side speaker started to make clucking noise(blown speaker). Read a reviews and a customer with similar issues and had returned this product 3 times. I had to pay to return the product back???? GOOD LUCK TO YOU! NOTE: Morel are one of the speakers that are copied More than beats headphone.
