A solid CAC card reader
I have used Cryptnox® USB Smart Card CAC Reader for more than three months. The card reader is well constructed and built. It never fails to read my ID card and ATM cards. I am very happy with the quality and the performance of the card reader. I strongly recommend that you try it if you ever have a need for a decent CAC card reader.

Works on Windows 11. USB cable is 2 inches long, like it borrowed from Barbie’s laptop 😂
Used this on Windows 11 with no issues at all. Total plug and play setup. No drivers, no drama, no summoning ancient IT spells. 🔮💻I used it with a Cryptnox card, but you could probably use any FIDO2/NFC smart card that supports strong factor authentication (SFA) on compatible websites like Dropbox, GitHub, or Microsoft 365. Just slide in the card and boom, instant login like you’re accessing a top-secret vault. 🔐🕵️Now the only thing holding this back from five stars? The USB cord. It’s about 2 inches long including the plug. You’ll need to position your laptop just right or break out your yoga skills to make it fit without stress. Seriously, it looks like it was made for a dollhouse setup. 🧘♂️🧩Still, it works great. Tiny cable and all.

CAC Reader that works as expected
It works as it should and I like that the cord can fold into the reader, protecting it when you travel. Note that this one only works for Windows and not Mac. It’s a good price and you just plug and go.

CAC Reader that Works
I don't have much to report about the Cryptnox® USB Smart Card CAC Reader for Computer. It works well and the cord folds in for travel. I have used it for over a month with no issue.

Not recommend: not user friendly
This device is poorly supported, and is not recognized by my Mac or my iOS devices (to be fair, a closer look at the info states this, when ones half the cost do, perfectly fine!! — Moreover, this card has NO software to set a PIN on the card, so you must do this via Windows’s built-in Security Key management tool. Unless you know what you’re doing with hardware credentials that are FIDO2 compatible, and you have windows—NOT Linux, like the description says—to program the card, it won’t be useful. iOS devices can read the NFC, but not program the card.

Small enough to put in your pocket, and works great too!
Nice and small. Works great for checking my email from home. Super easy to install and use, no problems at all. Definitely recommend.

Works on Windows 11
The card reader was easy to use. A simple plug-n-play into a USB-A port is all that is necessary. The listing specifies Windows 10 and Linux, so I took a chance requesting this item. I can confirm, however, that it did work on my Windows 11 machine.I paired this with a Cryptnox security key card.I was able to set up my 2FA with Dropbox. When I was asked to insert my key, I slid the card into this reader and it registered it flawlessly.I am deducting 1 star for 2 different "half-star" reasons. One, this unit is on the higher end of the price range for these types of units. Secondly, the built in USB-A plug is really short. (Yes, it shows this on the photos, but it is still annoying to use. Workable, sure, but still annoying.)But, it works.

Smart Card Reader works on Windows
It works with Windows. I use this for keeping my device secure. I just insert my smart card and it reads it just fine. It is small and the USB folds into the rear to make it easy to store and carry on the go. It worked with my card, so I assume it would work with any card that has a private key. No drivers were needed for me, but I also had another one of a different vendor that was already configured, so I am not certain if it requires any downloads. I did visit the vendor website and was redirected to their github page to see their software. It was a python package, but I did not try it yet because it "just worked".
