Bissell Crosswave Multi Surface Formula, 32oz Multi Surface Formula (with Multi-Surface Brush Roll+17859 All-in-One Multi-Surface Upright Vacuum)

We bought this machine to help with cat hair and loved it at first. Then, after cleaning it a few times per the instructions, I began to notice how poorly designed it was. The machine is supposed to be good for pet hair, but yet it has all these little places for hair to get stuck on the way to the (very small capacity) dirty water tank: corners, tabs, hinges, and so on. The tank itself is a pain to clean given how it's built -- it's like the designers didn't think about the functionality of the machine. I'm writing this review because it stopped sucking water and I had to look online to find out what to do about it. We've had a few old-fashioned bag-type vacs over the years, and they were a breeze to use: the hair and dirt went right from the roller to the fan and then up a chute into the bag, a straight shot, and they had a huge capacity. You didn't have to disassemble them and rinse out the piece parts after every use. This thing get a D for design from me, and I've been a professional designer my entire career.

This is a terrific machine! I'm so glad I bought it. I actually ordered the one with the extra area rug roller but I used the multi surface roller today on my area rugs, to see how it would work because it was the first time to use it. It did a great job! It cleans very well but doesn't leave much dampness in the area rugs so there's no long wait for rugs to dry. I think for me the biggest advantage of this light weight, easy to use machine is how much cat hair it cleaned out of my area rugs! I had no idea how much of the cat's hair was mashed down into the rugs. Now that I have this, I'll be keeping my rugs cleaner and keeping up on the cat hair!

This “mop” has been a lifesaver! We have 3 dogs, one that is getting up there in years and has accidents several times a day. We simply plug in and mop up the mess all in one fell swoop without paper towels. I tested how well it cleaned by running a swifter wet pad over the area...CLEAN! My only complaint is that you have to clean it every time you use it (even if used more than once a day!) because it will push an ammonia smell into the air if the canister already has stuff in it.
