In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Finally, wide wrestling shoes for MMA and Cross Training
I ordered these a few months ago after discovering that I couldn't train barefoot like I did when I was in my teens and 20s. These shoes give me the ankle support I need to prevent achilles tendonitis when doing plyometric training, martial arts, and also give me the mobility I need for heavy bag work and shadowboxing. I train on a 2 inch thick gym mat because some joint issues, and sometimes when I'm just warming up and the mat is dry I find the outsole catching a little but once the mat's slick with sweat, it's not a problem anymore. I have had no further achilles pain since starting to use these for ALL of my training, including weights/calisthenics. I wear a size 10 to 10.5 usually, and I wear thin no show socks with these and they fit perfectly, despite my incredibly flat feet which get flatter and wider when I stand up. At the end of a long workout when my feet are a little swollen, I'm still perfectly comfortable in these shoes. I do wish there were some other color choices (maybe some red accents?), because I'd love to have another pair to wear to work!

Great shoe and fits true to size
Great shoe and fits true to size. My grandson has very wide feet (he wears a 4E in regular shoes/tennis shoes). This was the widest shoe we could find and apparently anything beyond a 2E in wrestling shoes doesn't exist, which I find odd. These were a little tight for him but the best of what we could find.

Comfortable Shoe
My son has very wide feet. While these shoes fit his feet pretty snugly, it would be torture for him to have to stuff his feet into regular-sized wrestling shoes. My son states that the shoes are comfortable and that he likes the split sole. The shoes also appear to be durable. He gives these shoes a thumbs-up.

ASIC's Split Second Wide Wrestling Shoe
Most of the reviews are correct. For my wide feet, this shoe is VERY comfortable, especially compared to all the other shoes I've put up w/ in the past. And, yes, if you wear a 9Wide, get a 9 in this shoe. I got the 9 1/2 "just in case" (didn't want to go through hassle of shipping back for exchange) and it is very slightly larger than I really needed. But, nothing that a thick sock won't take care of. Rather be slightly longer than needed than too tight. Overall, GREAT shoe for us wide footed follks.

Excellent for the Gym
I bought these to level the AoA of my foot during squats and deadlifts and I'm please to say that it does the job swimmingly. The shoe is light and supple, enabling comfort and support while under extreme loads (450 + around 230lb). The laces are very strong, hockey -skate style laces and are a major factor in the strength of the shoe. The Split-sole can take some getting used to and the shoe itself has little heal cushioning, making running long distances particularly stressful on the Achilles and is not recommended (I just do 5 min runs in them). One last point: I bought an 11.5 (I'm an 11) because there were some reviews saying how the shoe is a 1/2 size too small. There is about .5-1 inch of room in the toe for me, so I recommend getting your true (typical) size.

A good wide shoe
My son is a large kid with wide feet. For some reason, there are hardly any wide wrestling shoes available. These are the most reasonably priced ones I found. The size runs true. He wears a 10 1/2, and we got a 10 1/2, and the fit him great. They are a bit stiff at first, but soften up with use. He says they are very comfortable.

Really good fit
I wear size 11-11.5 shoes (depending on make and fit). Got these in size 12 at first, and they were too big. Exchanged them for 11.5, and they fit nice (actually, a little on the bigger size, but that's how I prefer). And they are wide, but not too much. So, you can probably get whatever size you normally wear (street shoes, not wrestling ones). A 1/2 size up max, but even that may not be necessary.

Great shoe for training on mats
I train in JKD and Kali. Pummeling, take downs, ju-jitsu are utilized in both Martial Arts study. These shoes are awesome. Good traction, easy to maneuver, and very comfortable, and doesn't scuff mats. I recommend it to anyone who trains on mats.
