Fantastic Edition of a Seminal Album
This is a beautiful edition of this great album. "Purple Rain" was the VERY first album I ever purchased. I picked it up at release after having saved up my allowance for cleaning my bedroom and taking out the trash lol! So to buy it again, on vinyl, takes me back a few decades. This is a gorgeous release. The foil accents on the cover are beautiful, and the poster is pretty cool. The music sounds great too. The 2015 Paisley Park remaster was very well done imo.At this price, you're not going to get a better edition of a better album. This is a must-own album whether you're a die-hard Prince fan, a casual listener, or just someone who appreciates music in general!

Am so impressed... have the original on vinyl and this one sounds so much richer and vibrant. Saw a segment on the Tonight Show about it and hit amazon up (since they referenced amazon as a source) It arrived in perfect condition, the heavier grain surprisingly played on my 61 Zenith High fidelity with EXTREME STEREO and REVERB which always makes me laugh but at the time it was the best so to speak. Usually old consoles have issue with the heavier press but it played flawlessly and sounded amazing . Surprisingly was very moved by his passing... usually as a vet scoff at all the over coverage of stars dying when soldiers die in these wars weekly and no one even notices... But Prince and Chris Cornell effected me for they were stars that traversed my life. Now hearing this remastered by Prince himself seems to honor his music and reflect on his genius. Recommend this to anyone who loves vinyl it is worth the price even if you have original like i do. It is beautiful in the new pressing and an improved version of a classic album !

In His Purple Majesty's Not So Secret Service
A perfect record that stands head and shoulders above the competition of the day and still holds up as fresh and relevant.Released in the summer of 1984- this album served as both a supplement to the film of the same name and vice versa. The song craft is brilliant- marrying elements of rock, funk, new wave, r&b, soul and even ambient. The musicianship is top notch. Prince's prowess on guitar rivals even that of Eddie Van Halen, but he could sing and dance as well as shred AND play keys and drums with equal alacrity. The Revolution (the band) also add their own signature styles as musicians to this record to make it the pinnacle of his releases having been certified "Diamond" with the RIAA.Standout cuts to me personally were the lesser known songs 'The Beautiful Ones' in which he incorporates a Smokey Robinson falsetto with James Brown style screams over a slow synth grind with lilting piano jabs and the pseudo psychedelic jazz funk number 'Computer Blue' that falls into a melodic guitar solo that wouldn't be out of place in a Beethoven composition.well worth the time of anyone who loves great music that will never be stale.
