SO much better than a manual measuring tape!
This laser measuring unit is VERY nice. It's well made and while it comes with a book which will tell you all the things it can do, I found it very easy to use right out of the box. The packaging is nice and it even comes with a little protective bag to keep it scratch free and clean in your tool box. The screen is very easy to read and it has a LOT of functions for the price. I saw this being used by a youtuber demonstrating how he sets up his hifi speakers and I HAD to have it! This is my first laser measuring unit like this, but I can say that it appears to be super accurate and the ability to read angles also is going to be very useful! I will add a photo asap, so you can see the true size and the protective bag.

Don't crash your RV!! CHECK the clearance!
Saw some one use one of these for checking RV bridge clearances and ran to Amazon to get one. Works well for what we have used it for.

Decent Laser - Some Drawbacks
I use this laser for architectural surveying: measuring existing spaces for floor and ceiling plans to create as-built drawings. I need to create accurate base drawings so that the construction drawings are correct. For years, I was using a brick sized Leica laser that was provided by my company. I used this in combination with a sturdy 25' Stanley measuring tape. Eventually, I encountered someone in the field with a pocket sized laser like this and had thought about upgrading to something newer. I've used this laser for the past 2 years.I find this laser to be accurate, and work pretty well. Things I like:- pocket sized- only needs 2 AAA (the old Leica needed 4 or 6 AA)- can be used one handed- if needed, it can take measurements for very small distances (less than 12 inches)- for the price it has very long range- the display showing the last several measurements - this helps save some timeThings I don't like:- the back light on the display times out quickly, and if you're measuring in a dim area, it makes reading the numbers difficult.- default measuring in 1/16th of an inch - I wish I could adjust this up to 1/8 of an inch, but owner's manual doesn't say it changes.- the reference point for the laser can change (with one button, you can change the measuring distance from including the length of the device to not including the device.) Since most of the time the laser is against something, you need that additional couple of inches included. Twice on a job this changed without me realizing it, throwing off some measurements.- battery level depicted changes wildly - sometimes you turn it on and it says it has very little battery remaining and then the next time you turn it on, its full! I'd recommend carrying spares - when it reads error, the batteries are dead.Overall its been a good laser for the past two years but I'm thinking of changing to a Bosch GLM100-23. Though the distance range will be less, the laser reference point won't change and the measurements can be rounded up to 1/8 inch.

I Bought a Laser Measure and Now I'm Basically an Architect
I got this laser measure because I was tired of wrestling with my sad, floppy tape measure like it was a stubborn garden hose. Enter this little laser wizard — now I just point, click, and BOOM, I know the distance to my fridge, my ceiling, and my neighbor’s confused face across the street. It’s so accurate I started measuring things I didn’t need to — the height of my dog, the width of my existential dread, the distance between me and my goals (far, but measurable). My partner asked, “Why do you need to know the length of the hallway again?” And I said, “For science.”It even does area and volume, which is amazing because I failed high school math out of spite.Get one. Not because you need it — but because your inner nerd deserves it.

Good value. Gets the job done.
This is light, but rugged and has the features of much higher priced options. Measurements are accurate as I confirmed several distances (approximate 100 ft) by tape measurements.I only wish that the carry case was more rugged.
