Works well, gives relief.

Arrived on time and as described. The small jar of Icy Hot Balm feels a bit greasy at first and a bit like hard wax. I was hesitant to use it at first, but at the insistence of my therapist I went forward. It has a strong menthol scent similar to "Vick's", which I don't mind (but my cat does). As soon as you apply it to your skin the waxy feel melts and penetrates easily into your skin and the greasy feeling can be rubbed in as well, although it does remain to a point. I would advise covering wherever you apply it if you worry about the Icy Hot transferring onto other fabrics, furniture, bedding, etc. To be fair, I'm not sure if it takes away the pain or if the sensation of the menthol distracts one from the pain for a few hours, either way it does help ease minor muscle ache in my experience. I had a full knee joint replacement and wasn't able to tolerate the Rx meds so I was relying on OTC Tylenol and the Icy Hot to keep me "happy". The pain *I* was most experiencing was calf muscle pain, and pain around my ankle, both of which were helped with elevation, icing therapy, and the Icy Hot massaged into the pain areas (avoiding the incision). After a while I was only using the Icy Hot, particularly at night so I could sleep. Bottom Line: For safe OTC minor to mild muscle pain relief that lasts a few hours before reapplication, I would recommend.
