A great addition for a reasonable price.
I installed the Minova GPS-N on my Nikon D7100 and took several pictures. Some other reviews on Amazon indicated that it takes a long time for the unit to find satellites, but my unit found the satellites within five or ten seconds. I downloaded the pictures using Nikon View NX2 software and the GPS data showed up in the metadata as advertised. I uploaded the pictures to Flickr and the location for each picture is shown on the Flickr map. This is a very useful add-on especially since Nikon doesn't include a GPS capability in their DSLR's (I only know of one exception). The Minova is also relatively inexpensive compared to similar units, including the Nikon GPS add-ons. The unit came with a remote cable that plugs into the GPS-N. This is a good addition since the GPS-N fits in the hot shoe, which is where a remote unit might normally be installed. The GPS-N can be placed on the camera strap rather than the hot shoe, which is where it would have to be placed if it is to be used with another piece of hardware in the hot shoe, such as a flash unit or a wireless remote. But considering price and functionality it's definitely five stars.

Best one that I have found
I geotag the headstones of entire cemeteries. So far, I have geotagged about 12,000. The Solmeta that I had been using would lock up and the location wouldn't change. I had to unplug the unit to reset it. THIS unit works MUCH better! Th initial acquisitor takes a couple of minutes as expected. After that, it works very quickly. I still need to figure out the scenarios that affect the accuracy. It was anywhere from 3ft to 24ft, with a 12 ft average. I would like for it to be a little better, but that's still not TOO bad. I like the compact size. It stays in the hot shoe which CAN be a big deal. I like that it powers from the camera and doesn't require additional batteries. I like the on'off switch, which the Solmeta did not have. The green blinking light can be a little hard to see in bright sunlight. No problem with the cable that others have mentioned. I would buy this again, and recommend it to friends.

GPS works but cable is junk
The GPS functions properly with my Nikon D750 camera. However, the GPS is useless without the cable. The cable connectors are fragile and can easily get damaged if the user isn't extremely careful when maneuvering the camera with the cable attached. Additionally, replacing the cable is not a straightforward due to the unavailability. Therefore, I consider the cable design to be poor, which explains my three-star rating.

Super fast set up and works fine on a Nikon D7200
The reason for getting this was for travel and google maps. Google maps prefers cell phone pictures because of GPS and the ability to ensure the picture that was provided was taken at the right location. When I try to use pictures from my big camera for google maps, google won't accept them unless they are GPS tagged. This worked great. Took about 5 minutes to setup, 1 youtube video to make sure I was doing it right, then out to the yard to test it out. It worked perfectly with minimal issues. I have mine zip tied to my camera strap rather than using the shoe. It did take about 2 minutes to synch with the statties but otherwise, good buy, I'm happy with this product.

Very poor cable connector
Very poor cable connector at the camera end. I had two break on the first day of use. Otherwise very good product.

No support, crappy cable
The cable failed very shortly after receipt. It happened early enough that I believe the cable was defective from the time I received it but marginally worked. When I reached out to the seller for a replacement cable (even at my expense), they were completely silent for months. I still haven't heard back. Product was functional but felt cheap and plasticky, as one would expect. If the cable were readily available for replacement, I'd have much more faith in the product.

... way out of my price range but this seemed like a good alternative
since my D7200 does not have built in GPS I looked for an alternative to my mobile phone - the Nikon's own gps unit is way out of my price range but this seemed like a good alternative. It comes with all the cables and even a little tie to attach it to the camera strap. Plug in and even though it took about 5 minutes to log onto satellites then it was running very smoothly but does drain the battery a bit so I tend to take just one photo in one location with it turned on and then synchronize the gps data in bridge or LR after. Only 4 stars as it is still quite expensive..

Great addition to camera & geo-location to photos
The GPS unit clips in the hotshoe of the camera and connects to a side port with a short cable. I prefer using the strap clip as the GPS unit interferes with the pop-up flash. The clip needs to be secured to the strap else it will slide off (a well-placed zip-tie will do the trick). The GPS seems to be accurate in my testing and, once locked, provides quick GPS and time data to the camera to encode in the metadata of each photo. There is an on-off switch to conserve power that also allows you to disable the GPS tagging. Beware the cable - it can be fragile - and disconnect it from the camera when you stow the camera. A replacement cable is available at about half the price of a new GPS unit (and is included with the new GPS unit). If you need a remote shutter release, it is included. Because the GPS unit draws power from the camera, battery life of the camera is impacted but it does not seem to be significant. However, note that the GPS unit will discharge the battery if left connected and on overnight. Would buy a replacement if this one failed.
