These temperature loggers are marvelously useful when you need an inexpensive temperature recorder. They are designed to record the temperature of shipments whose temperature needs to be recorded in transit, and the companion downloadable plotting application works well but requires considerable practice to use effectively and has capabilities that you discover but aren't in the documentation. I have 8 of these loggers and they are remarkably consistent; put them on a shelf and they all show readings within +/- 0.5 degree. Buy extra CR-2032 batteries if you are doing things like collecting temperature once per minute for a week or two (that's 1440 data points per day, so no reason to complain).

Used it to track ac supply temps on a multi compressor system, to analyze the effect of known external variables on a finite environment... Works great!! Set it to record every minute with external sensor. Got 22 days of data with great responsiveness at one tenth degree Fahrenheit. Output data as a PDF and copied like a flash drive... It does take time!! If you record thousands or more points of data it does take a bit to compile the PDF after you manually stop recording. More data more Walt time. Be patient! It's doing alot of work making graphs n shii... I plugged it into a win 7 early with no problems, but it didn't show up in my computer until the device screen flashed PDF. Maybe stop it and wait till it's done processing before you plug it in? .... Great price and awesome product!!! Software on manufacturers website and its got more features than I used... Awesome!!!

I already own this company's regular blue RC-5 unit, and I am happy with that one, but this one is far too picky about batteries. The original battery that came with the unit seemed OK after removing the factory plastic that kept it isolated from the circuit. So, I set up the recording parameters, initiated the recording, and put the temperature probe in my fridge. The battery display on the LCD showed full charge. A week later I went to download the data, and it was totally blank, and the unit generated a PDF where all data entries said "battery too low" or something to that effect. So, I bought a brand new Energizer battery from the store, and tried again. This battery resulted in a successful recording of a few days. Then, I reset the unit and using the same Energizer battery, I tried to record again for around 6 hours. This time, the result was the same as the first time, and no data was recorded. I checked the batteries with a standalone battery tested I have and both showed up as green/good. So, in conclusion, my unit seemed to only work with a totally fresh battery, and if the battery was not good, it would start out appearing to record OK on the LCD display but would not have any data stored when hooking up to the PC. Unreliable, and disappointing.
