most american teas are weak, and even some so called Brit teas have evidently been weakened to suit the american market. This one is the tea that I grew up with.. A strong brew, a great taste. and some of the proceeds go towards the lifeboat society. Coming from Devon.. this is something that I support.

I love a very strong, unsweetened (though I live deep in South Eastern Sweet Tea territory) cup of black tea. I love this tea because you can brew a very strong cup if you like - but without any worries about over-brewing bitterness and such (such as with Typhoo et all) It also doesn't "stack" poorly. I.e. I brew 6-8 bags in my kettle and cut it half to the fridge container (so figure 4 bags per pot) and the extra strength from multiple bags as well as extra time it still comes out very clean strong tea. As in drop the bags into your kettle and in five minutes you're done. Forget and leave them in for 60 minutes? No problem - barely a difference (I'm making iced tea so I don't hover over or immediately pour after normal steep time). All in all - an outstanding cup of black tea. And as strong and you like it. The blue box picture is the very old box type. If you ever get a delivery of blue box lifeboat it is very old. Should be an orange box. This is very good quality Black Tea that some Brits call "Builders Tea". The strength of the tea has to be controlled if you are sensitive to the taste of tea, 5 minutes steeping is the ideal time for most people with 1 bag for about 3 cups of water (1/2 of a regular teapot), some people will probably disagree, but I find this gives a well balanced cup of tea. Be willing to try different steeping times and tea quantity. The fact that the company donates some of it;'s profits to the Lifeboat society is admirable.

This is a lovely, full-bodied tea, which needs a bit more time to steep than most English or Irish teas. Comes in round bags with no tags, so using a teaspoon is advised. The bags are mesh, and I haven't had any fall apart (unlike cheaper paper bags). You get a LOT of tea with your order.

These have a little deeper and smoother flavor than your typical English or Irish tea (PG Tips, Tetley's, Bewley's, etc.). Like most bagged English teas, they steep quickly. They are a great choice for everyday tea.

We have bought this case of tea many times and we love it for our basic cuppa everyday. It also makes a lovely cup of iced tea.
