Discovering the Culture of Childhood Paperback – August 2, 2016

I am a preschool teacher and I really consider this book a must-read for anyone working with children, whether you are a parent or an early childhood educator. It is essentially based on the idea that children are NOT incomplete adults, they are complete human beings living in their own culture. Our work is to understand and look at them from the culture of childhood perspective NOT the adult one. Wonderful resource to explore play based learning, process over product art, belonging and community. We must take children seriously. They deserve it!Bonus: The author is delightful!

Emily Plank, you have opened my eyes to understanding what is happening in front of my eyes every day with my daycare kiddos! I have learned new techniques and been able to offer a change-up to our space for the kiddos in my care. The results are amazing and I am SO happy I learned of this book! Wish I would have known you when you lived in Iowa!

A fantastic book that sits well with Aotearoa New Zealand's Te Whāriki Early Childhood Curriculum. An enjoyable read that contained many anecdotes that were easy to relate to.

This book has really turned around my perspective of childhood and children in general. I believe this book has the power to create some amazing teachers!
