I used Sta-Bil start on a portable generator that had been sitting up for over a year. I put a few squirts in the gas tank with fresh gasoline and let it sit for about 30 minutes. I put a small amount directly into the carburetor before attempting to start. After a couple of attempts to start the generator it fired up and ran as smoothly as the first time I used it new. I have since used START on other small engine items and it has worked wonders. Amazing stuff!

I filled 1/4 tank of gas into my snowblower which I could not started, sprayed about 15 seconds of Start Your Engines, rock snowblower to mix well, let it sat for an hour. I pulled string and yet couldn't start engine. Unscrewed spark plug and spray some into cylinder, put the spark plug back and pull the string. ENGINE STARTED!!! SAVED ME AT THE LEAST $150.

I recommend this product for engines that will in fact start but not run well. I highly recommend it for that specific purpose, which it is designed for. It cleans the inner workings of the carburetor. Of course, you will have a cleaner carburetor if you take it apart and clean it with proper tools and a proper carburetor cleaner. You spray it in the gas tank, start the engine, and let it run a bit. It will not start an engine with a totally plugged up carburetor. Nothing is going to do that. Nor is it a fuel stabilizer, as one previous reviewer seemed to think. Nor is it a product to be used to bring life back to stale gasoline, as another reviewer seemed to think. The only thing to do with stale gasoline is drain it out and pitch it. Nor is it a product to be used for cleaning a carburetor you have taken apart to clean. You should use a proper carburetor cleaner for that purpose. I've given it four stars because it cleans out mildly plugged up carbs. It is not a miracle solution for really neglected carbs as the name suggests.

This has worked well for me in the past to start engines that have not been used lately. I will definitely use again and in the future.

If you got an old carburetor and it is clogged, this is what you need. Pray it in, let it sit overnight and then get ready to work in the morning. Brought an old carb back to life.

Product works well in getting my 15 year old old mower to start, but at only 2 oz it’s very expensive and I feel I will need a new spray can once or twice every season. Also the squirt nozzle pointing vertically at the top of the can is not ideal as you tend to get the material on your fingertip trying to squirt it into the air filter/ carburetor or spark plug hole.
