Did The Job
Atticus Empero Nutsedge Killer helped eliminate a significant outbreak of nutsedge in my yard last season. While it’s a little less convenient than premixed alternatives, those options are hard to find in New York State, so this ended up being a practical solution. Once I understood the correct ratio of product, surfactant, and water, which really isn’t rocket science, the application process was straightforward. After applying it as directed, I started seeing clear results, and the nutsedge steadily declined over time. By the end of the season, the problem was under control. Overall, it proved to be an effective product and did exactly what I needed it to do.

Great results
Worth it. Used in a gallon sprayer. Dissolved easily with swirling/sitting with a smaller amount of water then filling it up. Had multiple nutsedge taking over the yard and at least 90% died first application (certain it was missed application). Other weeds not intentionally targeted died as well. I mowed grass shorter than usual first to ensure application made it to the ground.

Very Satisfied
I had never heard of Nutsedge until this spring after moving into a new neighborhood last November. When mowing season came around, I noticed something in the yard that looked like grass but grew very quickly… Nutsedge. Three days after mowing, it would be 2 or 3 inches higher than the surrounding turfgrass. It was also growing in the pine needles around my shrubbery and in my monkey grass. I began pulling it out of the shrubbery beds. After about a month of this, I saw on a YouTube video that this was actually Nutsedge, and that pulling it was an absolute ‘no-no’ because it comes back with a vengeance. Empero is designed to kill Nutsedge. It’s a knock-off of SedgeHammer, has the same chemical make-up and is a little cheaper. It worked well for me on the Nutsedge, but I was careful to use it as instructed by the YouTube videos I found. The videos cautioned that it would not be effective unless used properly. I waited several days after mowing so I could identify the Nutsedge since it had grown taller than the surrounding grass. I used a pump-up tank sprayer to spot-treat where needed. After spraying, do not mow again for at least 2 days… I waited 3 or 4. According to the instructions, Empero is rainproof after 4 hours. It takes about 4 days, but the Nutsedge will slowly begin turning yellow and stop growing. It will eventually die but may take 4 or 5 weeks after spraying. The Empero did not damage my turfgrass or the Monkey grass in my shrubbery beds. I followed the mixing directions of 0.9 grams per gallon of water and added a little dishwashing liquid as a surfactant. Mixing as directed, the 1.33 ounce bottle will make about 40 gallons of solution. After adding the chemical to the water, I used a paint mixer attached to a drill and stirred the solution for 2 minutes to dissolve the granules. I used almost the entire bottle spot-treating one acre of grass. The included pic shows the Nutsedge (which has turned yellow) 7 days after treatment and 3 days after mowing. I had good success with this product and would not hesitate to use it again.

Product works but follow these instructions
Product works but at first experience, not as effective as original Sedgehammer. From my experience of using Empero 1 year, you need to double the quantity, so 2 level scoops of the provided scooper per 1 gallon water. You need to add 2 teaspoons of dish soap for product to stick. Avoid rain and watering 6 hours prior to applying and 18 hours after. Best time to apply is evening when sun is not at peak to allow product to penetrate and not evaporate. Results are visible 5 days after applying. Do not mow for 4 days after applying. Follow these instructions and you'll thank me for what I learned the hard way. Removing 1 star as product does not work as per provided instructions.

This stuff is AMAZING
This stuff is amazing. Last season I used a product from the Home Depot. It took about 5 sprays to finally get ahead of the Nutsedge. It all came back this year. This year I tried the Empero. I mixed it with 4X surfactant and pattern indicator as instructed. I have 2 acres and about 0.7 acres had a good amount of Nutsedge. I mixed two batches in a 5 gallon sprayer and went at it. It's now been about 3 weeks and 2 cut cycles and I have to say I think it is completely gone. I am sooo happy with this product. My grass has no ill effects due to the spraying and the dye in the surfactant let me know what I sprayed or missed so I got every blade of Nutsedge. I'll let you know if any comes back next year. Supposedly this gets it down to the root. Anyway I have to say do not use anything else but this product. It is so awesome!!!!! I hate Nutsedge and I feel like I have won the battle!!! Here is my update. It killed 100% of the Nutsedge. So hoping it killed it to the root and it doesn't come back next summer. I'll let you know

Good stuff so far...
Good stuff - so far! The nutsedge was yellow brown and dying in 5 days in my front lawn. Noticeable yellowing in 2 days. I mowed it 7 days after application and it is stunted and dying still, the turf itself is doing fine. We will see after 4 weeks... Mix per the instructions. Definitely use a good surfacant and mix or agitate well. I applied 8 gallons of mix to my front yard using 20 gallon tow behind tank. All worked well. Would recommend, nutsedge is hard to kill. This stuff seems to knock the crap out of it.
