Q: How long can you use a singly filter pad before you have to replace it?

For my wine (Concord), after fermenting for 120 days and 4 or 5 rackings, I can filter a 3 gal carboy, changing the pad halfway through the process. So, for my wine, two pads for each 3 gal batch (I make 4 batches a year). I could just use one pad per batch, but as the pad gets clogged it slows down the filtering. So to speed up the process I change the pad half way through. Good luck & enjoy - I certainly do.

Q: What is the difference in the pads?

This is a 5-pack of filters. All of them are premium grade. That’s the finest filter. The maker also produces two others grades that are more coarse.
