Is the 1/2 inlet a compression fitting ?

Yes. The 1/2" inlet is a compression fitting (brass ring and nut) for 1/2" copper nominal pipe.

Does this really fit 5/8" copper pipe like the description states? I've never heard of 5/8" copper pipe. I'm guessing it's for 1/2".

It is for 1/2" copper pipe. Like a 2x4 that is really 1 3/4 x 3 3/4, a 1/2" copper pipe has an outer diameter of 5/8"

Does this connect to a copper pipe similar to SharkBite?

It does not press and fit like a sharkbite. However, it is a compression connection to 1/2" copper pipe that is pretty easy to put on. Place the nut on the pipe, then the ferrule (brass ring that compresses the pipe) then push the angle stop all the way onto the copper pipe, slide the ferrule and nut on and tighten the nut using a pair of pliers to tighten the nut and another pair of pliers to hold back the angle stop. These connections rarely leak and don't spin the way sharkbites do.

does it have a position when both outlets are opened ?

There is a position selection that will allow both outlets to be open, also there are position selections that will allow both outlets to be off and on/off or off/on.
