Good Value, but Read My Review
Updating my review from 6 months ago after a recent purchase of an authentic Fender pickguard. I was building a partscaster last year as a project to utilize a lot of hardware I had laying around. I have 5 strats, 1 vintage American and 4 MIMs I gig with. My original goal was to build this guitar as inexpensivly as possible, without sacrificing quality where it counted, and use it as an around the house practice axe. This project used a 10 year old Fender MIM neck I refretted, and an old Squire body I had acquired at the time. This pickguard is 3 ply, good and solid, but no back plate shielding, so you'd need to copper foil it if you want a shielded cavity. Pots are minis, and very sensitive to soldering iron heat when grounding wires to tops and leads, be careful (I had to replace 1, and I have been doing this for 40 years!). Mine came with 2, .047uF caps, one for each tone pot, and it is wired for tone on middle pup with lower tone pot, neck on the other, and the bridge pup is not wired for tone at all. They do this to save the cost of a proper 5-way switch with 8 contacts (they have 7 on their El Cheapo import switch, more on this later). You can jumper a lead on their switch board to activate bridge tone with the middle pup, but the switch is terribly noisy regardless. Also, if you use their pups, they are way too bright IMO, and need the .047uF caps (vs the .022s that are standard with Fender MIMs or Americans with better pups). Another drawback as many reviewers stated, the pickguard holes do not align with 4 or 5 holes of the body mounting screws, you will have to drill new holes in your guitar, not good. These reportedly "Diesel" pups are surprisingly good, but IMO, definitely not as good as even standard MIM Strat pups (they did test to about 7K ohms, and are pretty hot, but ice picky). You really need the tone controls to get the treble out of them, and like I said, the reason for .047uF caps, you'll need them to roll back to 6 or 7. I consider these pups very cheap, especially with the haphazardly glued, off-centered magnet strip on the bottom. Fender pup covers do not fit, so pup pole seperation is slightly different on these, fyi. Pup adjustment screws are also cheapo course threaded garbage, another FYI. Bottom line, for $12, which was the price when I bought it, you could give it a go if you are very budget conscious. Considering now the price is twice that, I wonder, given a pro setup with real Fender pickguard, 3 proper full size quality CTS pots, and a Fender 5 way switch will cost about 2x this product (given, this includes the pickups, which are useable). I'd never use this live, but it's still probably OK for a beater partscaster used to practice. You get what you pay for, and I suspect reliability will be an issue with time in the mini pots and the included switch. My 2 cents.

After paying $79 for just one pickup, this loaded pickguards for the price sound like xmas miracle
About two months ago a friend of mine brought an electric guitar which is Crate Electra. He ask if I wanted I really didn't care due to the fact I play mostly nylon strings and have a storage full of collectors. Guitar only needed a fully wired pickguard. I must say the neck was straight great frets C shape not my favorite but real smooth. He paid $7.99 for the guitar. Most likely an Asian may be 90's. I have all kinds guitar parts My thought was to wire it and give it to someone who is interested and can't afford one. That is when I came across this Loaded Pickguard. At this price I decided to go for it. What I like to say you don't have to have Fender. It has 11 screws and works with any guitar which is almost a Fender copy. I had to cut 3mm lower right side of the pickgurard because overlap with the bridge. Two screws out of 11 matched I had to drill 9 new holes .Make sure to pre drill the screws preventing any possible cracks..A bag of 100 pickguard screw is around $6. Do not drill to deep and no larger size drill bit. My concern was how noisy the pickup would be ( electromagnetic) Love Hate for single coil lovers. I always use black shielding paint inside the cavity. They are small jar s for around $12. Each jar cover more than four guitars . Copper foil is not cheap and I don't have the patience to cut it to the size. The goal is to create continuity for earth (grounding). It makes a difference. 3 to 4 soldering. Less than an hour With strings on guitar which was hooked to my effect GT-8 Boss Pedal 70-2. There was no noise which made me think it was too good to be true. Well the answer it is good and true. The $7.99 guitar with intonation 95% plus accurate . I rather use open string and harmonic at 12TH fret for intonation. The sound of this guitar was unalienable not muddy I used modulated clean pedal. I played for one hour and no noise. As I said before I am a nylon string player but not tone deaf. I do not compare these pickups with any well known pickups Duncan,Dimarzio or EMG etc. I can't predict how they sound later or how long before something goes wrong. I am talking now This loaded pickguard is a great buy and for now this guitar stay with me. Wish luck with your project.
