I typically don't care for fiction, but I've read several of her books, and they're all GREAT! Beauvoir wrote fabulously, and I was surprised at the ending of this novel in particular. Although a case could be (and has been) made for this not being, strictly speaking, fiction, you can't disguise great writing - and this book has it.

I bought this book to replace one I had lent a friend and never got back. It seems to happen to so many of my books. I am rebuilding my De Beauvoir library and there isn't one of her books that isn't worth having. This one particularly poignant because it chronicles a romantic rift in her legendary relationship with Sartre. Splendid.
