I just installed mine. It didn’t work. The instructions stated that there was a manual switch on the left side of the unit, no such switch. The instructions said to call customer service except there was no phone number in the instruction booklet to call! Sort of provides a good indication that they have no desire to hear from you. I went ahead and took back cover off and discovered a wire disconnected and was able to get it to work. However, it does not have the multiple colors represented in the ad. That was a major disappointment. The mounting hardware seems to indicate that it could be flush mounted, it can and I will but to do it cuts off access to the on/off switch. You can still control unit from front controls and or remote, not sure why the switch is even ther. Nice looking unit but misleading ad, poor quality control, switch behind the mounting studs and no customer service phone number leads me to a low rating.

The touch screen buttons creates a modern appeal, and prevents my two year old son from being able to turn it on. It came originally with fake charcoal with the crystals in a separate bag to change out of you choose. I actually really like the charcoal look, because it's so realistic, and the noise actually sounds like burning wood. I would absolutely recommend!

The flames stopped working within two weeks of using. I had to return both units that I had purchased.

The problem is getting one that isn't broken in the box, Im on the 3rd one
