Brilliant and worth it
RE800 are excellent sound wise.Neutral with touch of warmth. Comfortable and build seems reasonable to me.I graduated from RE600 which have also served me well for full 4 years with no problem. RE800 are more full and sound more even without any tinny highs. I will look after them and will get years of good service.I rarely take them outside and enjoy high definition FLAC files hooked up to my Ibasso dx160 and 150 for home listening . Superb. Thanks for reading

Phenomenal sound
I've a LOT of experience with headphones and IEMs, like I've had close to 200 sets. Been in the hobby for many years (obv). The re800s are one of the best sounding IEMs I've ever heard. At £100 it's pretty insane the sound you are getting. My go-to since Xmas were the great FIIO FD5 £265. Since I got the re800s I've no intention of going back to them, in fact I'll probably sell them. Don't get me wrong, they sound great and in terms of bass, there's no competition as the re800s can't compete for depth or quantity. The FD5 also have a more holographic soundstage. But the re800s just sound so realistic. The soundstage is very wide. Bass is quick, has super texture and a very realistic tone. It can hit the sub notes, but they won't satisfy bassheads as they don't have that 'rattle' or oomph. Detail in the mid section is just exceptional. Excellent micro and macro levels of detail. Treble is extended, but cut off just at the right point to avoid harshness. Imaging and separation is very high. These might be the most detailed sounding IEMs I've heard to date, yet stay smooth and not too bright. These NEED burn in. If you don't but into "burn in", these still convince you it's real. They sound very mediocre and restrained out of the box... But after 50 hours they transform. I was listening to some Beatles and in Strawberry Fields I heard notes and sounds I've not once came close to hearing.Tips make a difference to bass quantity. These are a multi genre IEM. I'm not that into classical, but I always test it with new gear. I've never heard orchestral music so clear and vivid. Strings are so accurate. These IEMs came onto the market around £400. For whatever reason they never took off... Probably due to the ever changing IEM scene, where more drivers and special cables are the hype. The re800s is basic looking, but super comfy. Cable is a bit noisy (microphonic) but strong enough. The default hifiman cables are what I use as they keep bass tight and bring out most detail and width, but a more traditional silicon tip or wide bore defo adds weight to sub bass.At £100 you are getting £300 sound. There's a reason they were so expensive when they first came out.If huge bass is what you want, don't buy them. If coherency and an all round accurate (but never analytical), smooth sound, with lots of detail is what you like... Or if you want to sample mid tier priced IEMs at this crazy price... Go for it.
