Well Designed Travel Mug
I'm a product designer and furniture maker who's broken many ceramic mugs while in the workshop so I finally decided to seek out a steel mug with a ceramic lining. I settled on this Contigo mug and am glad I did. I drink a lot of coffee and tea so being able to keep its taste intact is why I prefer a ceramic lining over a metal lining. So the taste of coffee and tea tastes great in this mug thanks to the ceramic lining.I like that I don't have to worry about breaking this mug if it gets tipped over thanks to its durable steel body and BPA free plastic lid. I also really like its silicone grip on the top half of the mug. I like the design of its deep lip drinking spout since your top lip doesn't touch the lid while taking a sip.I appreciate how long hot beverages stay hot in this mug. When I put boiling hot water in it for tea I leave the lid off to let it cool but still have to wait around 10 minutes for it to be cool enough to drink. So I have no qualms with how long beverages maintain their temperature in this mug.I read some reviews that said that the amount of liquid that comes out of this mug at once is too little and thus comes out too slow. However I'm totally content with the rate at which liquids come out of the lid when there is a hot drink inside - I wouldn't want it to come out any faster. However, when I have a cold drink inside I do find myself wishing the beverage came out a little faster but this isn't a huge deal to me.The only other issue I'd note with this mug is the top part of the lid which opens / closes the spout. I can see how some reviewers can accidentally break it if they twist that part of the lid too strongly to open or close the top. My advice is to instead turn the silicone grip ring just below that to tighten or remove the lid. The top part of the lid is just meant to open or close the spout area. If you close the lid and tip the mug upside down liquid will not come out of the mug. However since the lid doesn't have a firm locking mechanism I wouldn't close the mug and throw it in my travel bag while on the go in fear that the lid would come ajar and leak liquids. There are other Contigo mugs available if that's a priority of yours. In summary I'm really happy with this mug which is why I felt compelled to review it. I like how it maintains the original taste of the beverage, how it keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold as well as how durable it is. I also like its sleek design (I have the black version). I'd probably give it a 9.5/10 if that was an option but I like it well enough to round up for a 5-star rating. Nice job on this one Contigo!

Came in third in my test of four
Compared Macaron Lock & Lock to Contigo Twistseal 16oz, Kyocera 17 oz, and Funkrin 16oz. Over the course of a few hours, the Macaron held temperature equally well as the Kyocera, and seems to be essentially made the same, and these performed better than Contigo and Funkrin.Funkrin has a thumb-flip lid that closes well, but didn't hold the temp as well as others. Contigo maintained temp a little better than Funkrin, but the lid seems a little complex for my taste. It took some practice to remove the twist cover for washing.Summary: starting out at 200 degrees, after 20", Funkrin was at 187, Contigo 185, Macaron 194, and Kyocera 195. After 2'15", they were at 142, 155, 178 and 178. For the price and fun look, $11 Macaron seems to be best value, at least for now. Time will tell if it holds up as well as the $30 Kyocera. On more important detail: they all pour equally well into a demitasse cup (my preferred way to drink), no dribbling messes, yay!

Good Product But Will Not Accommodate Most Tea Infusers
Overall: Great product for generally keeping liquids warm, but just an average product for brewing loose leaf tea. This is a good mug, but the biggest issue is it will not accommodate most tea basket infusers. Besides that, the ceramic interior is great, I have not encountered any leak issues, and I think it looks nice. I say it's a four star product for coffee, but a three star product for tea.You should double check the specs of this and your equipment before purchasing. The tea infusers I use fit well in a different model Contigo mug (20 oz Contigo Byron), but this mug is a bit too narrow to hold them. I have to brew the tea in a separate container and then transfer into this mug, which is okay but not ideal. The "Twistseal" lid is overall acceptable and so far has not leaked for me, but I've been pretty careful. I think some of the reported leaking issues may be because the twisting motion to operate the drink spout could incidentally loosen the entire lid out from over filling. I don't like that it uses a metal spring and is not easily operated with one hand, but none of that is a deal breaker. I personally prefer Contigo's "Snapseal" style lid because it's basically a once piece design with no metal and minimal risk of leaking.

Best of the Bunch for Coffee and Tea
This one is better than Contigo's non-lined ones in all kinds of ways, especially for coffee and tea. I've tried them all, and find that my coffee tastes better with this one--no metallic aftertaste. It cleans up better--the ceramic lining hasn't stained to date, and nothing sticks to it. I like the twist seal better than either Contigo's Autoseal or Snapseal versions. As others have noted, you don't get external gunk sticking to the pouring area (so better flavor) and it doesn't leak. I sometimes use it for bullet proof coffee and no matter how much I shake it, it stays sealed. On the cons side, the outer rubber handgrip has stretched since hand washing, and is slipping down. So it's useless and worse, collects water. Looks like it's just a matter of time before I have to get rid of it. The rotating top piece seems a bit fragile and I hope it won't break as others have reported. I also wish Contigo made this in a 20oz and 24oz size. I'm sure coffee drinkers would appreciate having a larger ceramic-lined version to take to work and on the road (I'm having to use two of these, which is kind of a pain). I would strongly recommend that Contigo ditch the outer rubber grip and go with the same grippy paint finish that they use with their colored Autoseal products. It would be great to have some of those color and graphics options as well (like their "But First, Coffee!" version). Lastly, it would be nice if you didn't have to handwash the bottom unit (as per Contigo's instructions) and could throw it in the dishwasher instead.

Excelente producto

Ceramic chipped *Updated*
Received today. Looked great, but upon closer inspection, I noticed the ceramic was chipped inside. I thought it was some debris and tried to scratch it off with my fingernail, then more ceramic scratched off. Will return. I’ve requested a replacement, and will edit my review once I’ve tested it.Update: I received the replacement without any issues back in Aug 2018. I’ve used the mug almost every work day for the past 7-8 months for tea. It’s been great. Keeps my drink hot for at least 6 hours. There have been times when I haven’t been able to drink from it and by the end of the workday the drink is still lukewarm. I’ve been able to throw it into my lunch bag and have no leaks. I’ve taken away a star because I’ve found a 1-inch hairline crack in the enamel. I’ve never dropped the mug, but it has been through frequent use for many months. I’m still happy with the product, but am a little disappointed I will have to replace after less than one year.

Dents and scratches very easily
I can't love this mug; there are too many flaws in the design. The inside ceramic lining is just a thin coating, and scratches off easily to reveal the underlying metal. (When stirring with a spoon, take care to avoid scraping the inside of the mug.) The outer steel is thin and flimsy, so it dents even when used carefully. (Even gripping the bottom of the mug too tightly will make the metal flex.) The matte black paint is prone to chipping off. However, I can't hate this mug either. It does exactly what it promises to: it keeps your drinks warm, is leak-proof, has a ceramic lining, is made of steel on the outside, and is a beautiful matte black colour with a grip sleeve.

No more stainless steel smell!
I purchased this travel mug as I did not enjoy the stainless steel smell when drinking my morning coffee. I've been pleased with this purchase and my morning coffee routine is much more like drinking out of a coffee mug at home (e.g., smell is gone). I've dropped it a few times and it holds up very well. It keeps my coffee warm. The travel mug does not spill/leak - the lid screws on and stays on. You won't be having large gulps of coffee/tea/etc from the mug when the lid and hole is open but I don't find this a big issue; I can unscrew the lid and take it off if I really want to have a lot of my drink at once vs. sipping (usually not as it is too hot). Recommend for those who travel and care about their coffee experience.

The best ceramic mug!
I love this mug but after 2 weeks I stupidly left my bag opened abd it fell out and the lid broke. Since I didn't want to invest in a new one and this was one of the best ceramic mugs I've tried in terms of keeping my coffee warm, I reached out to to the manufacturer about buying a new lid. Not only did they get back to me in less than a day but they had already sent out a brand new replacement mug. That level of customer service was beyond my expectations. It's a fantastic product made even better by the people behind the product.
