Pyrex 564-PC Red 8 Cup Measuring Cup Lid, Made in USA

I have two pyrex lids, this new one meant for the 8 cup/2 quart /2 liter cup. The other older one I have used for many years meant for the 4 cup/1 quart /1 liter cup. For their intended cups, each slips inside snugly. With a turn of the handle you can have a large opening, a slightly sieving hole, or a closed area over the spout. This is useful in the fridge, the microwave, or for traveling. Alternatively, I can use them as a splatter-guard lid in the microwave for the next sizes down by having the flange on the outside of the measuring cup and the spout hole hooked on the cup's handle. I have "old" PYREX (all caps, as opposed to pyrex in lower case) that I've used every day for thirty years of cooking and baking. These lids make melting chocolate or butter in the microwave a clean process. Great design for daily use.

This lid creates a good seal with the top of the measuring cup. It can be used for storage with the lid positioned to cover the cup's pouring spout. There are two options that can be used to filter/strain and an option to pour with the lid in place. Mine had one slight dent at the lower edge, but I think that is to be expected, as the flexibility is needed to create a good seal at the top rim of the measuring cup. I boiled some water in the microwave with the lid in place (venting steam) and the irregular spot is barely noticeable. It is microwave, refrigerator and freezer safe, so I'll be using it to pre-mix recipes to be cooked at the last minute. The 8-cup measuring cup is a perfect mixing bowl with its handy pouring spout and handle and this lid makes it even more versatile.

I received a Pyrex measuring bowl with lid many years ago. Little did I know it would become one of our most used items in the kitchen. The lid finally gave out after 25 years of daily use. It was terrific to be able to replace the lid only and continue to use the glass bowl. High quality items like this are worth every penny!

I guess nothing lasts forever and the lid on my Pyrex measuring cup cracked after 40 years. I was skeptical, but after warming up, this lid fit perfectly.
