I got the Uniden R4 after losing my R3 in a wreck , and I have to say, this scanner is a real winner. I’m not a tech expert, but this thing is super easy to set up and use right out of the box. This Uniden R4 is the best bang for the buck. If you don't need the arrows, then this detector is for you. The range is incredible. It has picked up radar signals from as far away as 4-5 miles on very flat terrain. (I live in west Texas where there are no hills or many curves). On more curvy and hilly terrain, it has picked up as far as 2-3 miles. Plenty of time to save you a ticket. I wouldn't trust anything else for protection. Only thing it can't detect as all radar detectors can't, is the eye in the sky. Purchase it. You won't be dissapointed.

This radar detector is awesome, especially for the price point. The only thing I miss is the direction of the signal, but is it worth twice the cost of the R4? Not for me it isn't. If that Ka Band goes off, slow down it's not false, saved me a ticket and paid for the radar detector (I feel sorry for the poor sod who passed me and got nabbed by the unmarked SUV).

It works like it suppose to, having Bluetooth built in is nice to have. You’re able to use third party apps and makes the detector more useful. Having a couple of mounting solutions included is a bonus.If you’re in need or want a radar detector this one should be on your short list.
