Q: I want To use this to catch cold shower water in our CA drought. Last other brand bucket broke. Are these sturdy to carry and not get too heavy?

Yes, its sturdy, but as for "too heavy"? When completely full it weighs about 24 lbs (8 lbs/gal x 2.5 gals). That's a lot of weigh to be carrying by a single handle, especially if its for more than only a short distance. Hope this helps.

Q: What's on bottom to grab when pouring? My old bucket had a molded-in handle that made aquarium filling easy. Now all expect you to use fingertips.
