Came fresh and in excellent condition
Received my chocolate today and it was in perfect condition, fresh and perfect. Put the box in the fridge and they are lovely cold. I will be buying them again because they are my favorite guilty pleasure. Thank you for having a very fresh product. Package came quickly and in one perfect undamaged piece.

Just as I remembered
I ate these candies as a child and they brought back good memories. I bought them for an experiment I won’t go into, because the experiment failed. Let’s just call it a learning experience in freeze drying. The candy itself tastes a little different from what I recall, but the overall substance is there and they still taste great. I’m guessing an ingredient is different, but I can’t put my finger on it (if only I had kept the original wrappers, but what kid does that?).

Just Terrible, Nothing like the old ice cubes
I ordered a large box of these in 2014 and they were just perfect; my absolute favorite chocolate ever - unique and unchanged since the first time I tried one in 1973. Smooth, creamy milk chocolate with just a hint of hazelnut, never bitter, melt in your mouth, chocolate perfection.Sadly, these aren't anything like those.I had recently mentioned to a friend that I was going to order several boxes to share with my family soon and raved a bit to her about how much I loved them. A few days later she brought me a little package of 10 from a box she had ordered on my recommendation. So, of course, I thanked her very kindly and popped one in my mouth on the spot. What in the world happened to these?!? They are not smooth, not creamy, and not milk chocolate. The only thing they have in common with the old Ice Cubes is that they seem to melt at about the same temperature... but really, who cares? I like dark chocolate, I just prefer milk chocolate; but the flavor of these isn't all that good for dark chocolate or any other kind, the texture is gritty and they leave an oily aftertaste.Whoever is responsible for this should apologize to the world and retire from chocolate making.Just as an afterthought. This isn't the first time a dark chocolate variety of Ice Cubes has been released in a gold wrapper. The first time was in the mid-1980's, or at least that's when I first saw them. But they were very good then, just a dark chocolate version of regular Ice Cubes. I'm not saying these are some of those that have been in some warehouse for 30 years, but it might explain the flavor and texture.

Reminds me of the old days.
Fresh, best to store it in the refrigerator.

Not The Same But Still Wonderful
So, the only thing that prevented me from giving these great chocolates five stars instead of four, is because my strong recollection is that 30 years ago, they were better. That's not to say the modern ones aren't good. They are. But in comparison, I felt I had to ding them one star because the Ice Cubes of the 1980s and probably later were simply phenomenal. I'd see them at restaurants, where you pay the check----old fashioned restaurants/diners where you paid at the register. They'd have a nice display of Ice Cubes and you could get a few of them and enjoy. They were more of a milk chocolate back then----milky, lighter chocolate. The ones I just received almost seem like a hybrid dark/milk chocolate. They aren't the same flavor as dark chocolate---not that strong. And they do have the cocoa flavor of milk chocolate, but not as light. In between. And that works. They still have that "cool" when you bite into one, and they still melt in your mouth. They are made in Germany----a long way to travel to get to me in Virginia, USA. But they were in perfect condition, super fresh and very good. So I urge you to try them because if you've never had Ice Cubes before, you're going to love them. If you've had them decades past, and loved them----I hope that like me, you will like the slightly different newer ones, even if they aren't an exact trip down memory lane. For me, they're close enough. Great chocolate at this price point.
