Exactly what I wanted!
The media could not be loaded. The driftwood is a perfect size/variety for my 20gal tall tank. I soaked the wood in very hot water over the course of about a week (maybe two) and changed the water daily to remove the majority of the tannins. I also used a small scrub brush to scrub the wood, especially in the nooks and crannies because there was quite a bit of buildup in there. This really helped move along the tannin release process. I added them to my planted aquarium about 5 days ago and let the plants and wood cycle together using my filter from an established aquarium. Took about two days to level out the ammonia and pH and then I was able to add my fish. They have NOT tainted the water color at all (because I followed directions to release the tannins ahead of time, lol) and they look fantastic and fit the vibe of my tank and living room decor. Plus my pleco loves swimming under the wood to get shade!

Great price and quality
The media could not be loaded. Love this piece. My Tobias loves it also. By the next day it changed the color of the water which I loved . Bettas prefer murky looking water.

Clean and bake these. You can boil them but I prefer a dry hea
Great pieces. At first I wasn’t happy with how dirty these were, but I rinsed them really good didn’t feel the need to boil them.. YES it will tint your water, but fish love tannins!! Lakes and (rivers) are littered with wood and natural trees. I add some filter floss or polishing material to my sponge filter and it filters a little more than half the color. I do water changes weekly, so there no need to stress about tannins and fish they love it! And trees love fish water (fertilizer) lol

Large pieces but extremely dirty
These are fairly large pieces they are pretty I'd say.... but I have been boiling them for two weeks tomorrow. Not on a high boil all the time because I'm not always paying enough attention to have something going at a rolling boil but they've been boiling it super hot water period for over two weeks. I've definitely been more lazy as time goes on but the first several days I scrubbed with a tooth brush and had on a rolling boil consistently. For the time it has not been boiling on high I've boiled each side for a while allowing water to become lightly tainted sometimes it was left for longer and looked to get darker in color but I always rinsed the freshly boiled end in super hot water really well before refilling and replacing the pot with the other side down and boiling. It made sense that rinsing the end that was in the tannins would lower the amount that was allowed to reansorb into the porous surface of the wood as it dried in the air as the other side took a turn. As you can tell I have put a lot of time, effort, thought, cade, considerationz and now destroyed cookware and other household products into getting this wood ready for my tank and I ordered plants that were due to come a week after that may be beyound help by the time I'm able to attack them to something. I have a real anubis wedged in a gake piece of drift woof to keep it somewhat alive... but now two weeks later I have 3 packages of lice Java moss to attach to this wood....and n9 ability in which to actually get it done in until this wood is done leaking tannins. The color seems much prettier now that it's boiled for a week as when it arrived the color was a gross blackish brown in some places. Now much of the wood is more of a brown to a auburn and I am eager to use it. It really has some potential to be pretty, but the shapes aren't super ideal one of mine is almost just a straight piece one small cuve saves it so I think I can only put the large piece in alone if I don't want it to look silly as the smaller piece all alone would look quite silly just a straight long but in miniature laying at the bottom of the tank? No thank you. I feel like it's sturdy and not like flakey so that's good. If spending a few extra dollars would have saved me from all this cleaning I'd definitely have paid for it. The ones at the pet store definitely seemed pre cleaned. I still would have boiled but I bet it wouldn't have been this hard so I can't say if the value in my opinion just isn't there. I don't think the amount you save is worth the effort to clean it, as I didn't save that much and these are so dirty.

The merchandise is not always great
Hello, this is my second time purchasing and I really not happy with what I received. It is nothing like the pictures. The first picture is of what I received this week after being very pleased with my first order and the second picture is what I received the first time I purchased. You wouldn’t even think that it supposedly the same product: it is very small, no figure whatever, literally just the left overs. Not happy at all!
