The cap on one end screws off. That cap also has a slit in it, so if you store screws or something in it, you can just squeeze the top and shake them out one or two at a time. It comes with a mounting bracket that you can screw onto -- whatever. But the cap also has a mounting bracket opposite of the slot that slips into the bracket, so you can connect them together. It's a lot easier to screw the cap on and off if you rub a little soap on the threads. I got a kick out of the invoice. "PS", "PPS", and "PPPS". The PPPS said that it shipped only 29 minutes after I placed the order. That's pretty darn fast!

Great storage canister.

I've bought many of these over the years and although I can't provide a lifespan the clear plastic portion is subject to yellowing, cracking and shattering which of course renders the product useless. The bottom caps and top squeeze caps will far outlast the clear container. Mine have been stored in a non climate controlled environment in a shop. If you have a heated/AC'd garage and keep them out of direct sunlight YMMV as far as the lifespan of the clear container.

This cylinder container was just what I needed. I needed some to store CA glue in the refrigerator. I wanted both a buffer space for food stuffs and something that wouldn’t get lost amongst everything else. It also has the added benefit of keeping it out of the hands of my young grandson. The container has the potential for so many other uses and I will probably buy more. I highly recommend it.

I've bought several of these and too often the black 2-hole mounting plate crumbles because they have been molded improperly.
