Q: To connect to my macbook's usb-c port, would i need to purchase a male-to-male cord? photo looks like a male usb-c to female usb-a is included.

That male usb-c to female usb-a in the package is enough to connect to Macbook. I can connect to my macbook pro without any issue for spotify, tidal.

Q: Is this worth it over the fiio q3?

The Hip Dac 2 has many improvements over the original Hip Dac and the FIIO, the most significant is full MQA decoding. You will see the biggest improvement over the Q3 if you are streaming using Tidal Masters.

Q: Does it work with 250 ohm headphoe

Impedance is not the only factor that matters. You also have to look at the sensitivity of the headphone. But Yes. generally it should work without any problem as this device is meant to be used with 300 Ohms DD headphones like HD600/800S
