We have four compost bins in our backyard. Three are for grass clippings and the large amount of leaves we rake up each fall, while the fourth is for food waste. Unfortunately, we only used makeshift barriers to prevent our dog from accessing this fourth bin since she roams freely in the backyard. However, we believe she found a way in, as she developed sudden gastrointestinal problems requiring a veterinarian trip and a hefty bill. This motivated me to grab some pieces of wood and quickly build a gate. I chose these hinges because I had used a similar version on a larger yard gate before. They are slightly more expensive than other hinges that can support the weight of the gate. However, these hinges have some great qualities—they are sturdy, rust-resistant, have an adjustment feature for installation, and, most importantly, self-close if a family member forgets. Bad news for my dog!

Wonderful design, very sturdy and adds flexibility to difficult installations. Before installation you will need to remove the spring tensioner which is very easy to do and the kit includes the tool to do that. Only thing that I would recommend is replacing the included screws which are designed for plastic gates and would not really work on a wooded gate. I replaced them with a wide 1-1/4 inch stainless steel ones. The one thing which these hinges do is adjust the level of the gate. Great buy and have two gates with them with no issues

These hinges were very easy to install for my application of a 50" wide, 6' tall, 6" wide pickets gate and the quality of the steel was more than adequate. While it was nice that 'adjustment pins' were included for the self-closing tension the quality of the pins was not up to par as they easily bent when trying to create additional tension on the springs. Overall a very good value.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Supposed to be overnighted between 7 and 11 AM the next day, but it didn’t show up until the following day at almost 7 PM at night. We specifically ordered this one because it was going to be overnighted and ended up not being here until a day and a half later. When the package did arrive all of the bags it was in were ripped up and screws and parts were falling out of the bag additionally, the hinges look like they’re not brand new; the paint is chipping and it’s scratched. So now I either spray paint it or try to put in a refund and it still won’t be here for a few more days. This whole process is taken way longer than I needed. It’s extending finishing my job and lowering the quality of my work. Very disappointed will never order from this seller again. Do not waste your time.

I love how you can adjust these to fix sagging gates, as for the self closing portion.....not so much, they seem to rust internally and sometimes the spring just pops off inside and no way to fix. But I would still recommend as a regular hinge but not a self closing one

Love the adjustability this very heavy duty hinge offers. Strongly suggest it. One thing to consider is that they are prepacked with self tapping metal purpose screws. Expect to purchase lag bolts or strong wood screws for wood application.
