Any large countertop water filter is an investment, but I chose this one for it's price, capacity, and the reviews. It's far more obtainable on a budget and it works outstanding with no leaking.I have had it for a few weeks already and having clean water on hand is so much nicer. I can ditch buying water in plastic altogether and also not have to drink the overly chlorinated water straight from the tap.The biggest thing to note is you need to prime your filters before you put them in the tank. You use one of the rubber washers that come with the filter to help with making a slightly better seal with the sink faucet (it will still make a mess). Run the tap into the filter until drops start making their way through the entire length of the filter, repeat with the other one.When attaching to the upper tank ensure you aren't screwing on too tight, you can damage the filter. Just finger tight is good and the washers on either side of the hole will ensure a good seal so no unfiltered water will leak into the bottom tank.The final thing to note is there is no clear note on which way the handle for the spigot is the closed position. Forward is on, to the side is off.Enjoy keeping clean filtered water on hand!

Wasn't sure how this would work out but the Berkey is out of my spending allowance. It was smaller than I thought, my mind tricked me. It works great. No more going to the store and get the filtered water and carrying the heavy jugs. Now I just refill and have the water as needed. I have to learn when the filters are flushed out so you won't taste them. I let the cold water run for a good 5 min holding the filter, that wasn't enough. I use only one filter and when the next one has to be placed, I will soak it in water for 10 -30 min to see how that works. Since water should not have a taste, but should be refreshing, this unit accomplish it.

Updating my review from 1 to 4 stars. The company reached out and sent replacement filters for the broken one we got. The install is still not intuitive but there are YouTube videos you can look up, they sent me links. Since I got it working, it’s been doing its job and we’ve been using it as our prime drinking water. It’s a bargain compared to other brands.This wasn’t very intuitive to set up and the instructions weren’t very clear. It came with 2 water filters and one broke when trying to screw it in. Of course I’m passed the 30 day policy so it’s a loss I have to deal with. The priming of the filters didn’t work at all so I soaked it and then installed it and it took days to filter any water at all. The taste was gross at first but after a few filter cycles it did improve so the issue I had with priming it was probably to blame. I ordered a different brand of filters to replace the one that broke. Will see how they perform.

Not only is the product amazing, but customer service is incredibly easy to communicate with. They respond very quickly and provide excellent customer service. I accidentally misplaced an O ring while cleaning which was causing my spigot to leak, which is what made me initially reach out for assistance. They were very responsive and helpful when it came to solving this issue. Thank you purwell!

After I received my Purewell Water filter, I too broke the carbon filter while connecting it to the alkaline filter. I contacted the company, sent pictures, and explained the problem. They responded quickly, sent instructions for proper installation, and agreed to replace the broke filters! The unit is now working properly. Thank you, Purewell!

If you, like me, are adverse to thoroughly reading instructions and just throw stuff together out of the box, read this review and save yourself some hassle. You need to flush these filters with high pressure water and fully saturate them prior to use or your water will not filter and drip down to the lower cannister. You need to run them under a faucet for awhile, longer the better, but preferably under something with higher pressure if possible.Be advised that this (and any) gravity filter takes time to filter, so do not wait until the minute you want water and plan ahead.This filter is sturdy, easy to clean, comes as described and does what it is supposed to do. You can stack it inside of itself for easy storage and travel. Be mindful that you may need to re-prime those filters between uses, if it has not been used for awhile. Happy to have the peace of mind of clean water for when the power goes out here, which it does often.

I'm so pleased with this after no longer having a Berkey! I saw a demonstration on Youtube that showed lab results/water quality of 3 different filter systems: This one, a Berkey and another big brand name. This one had identical lab results to the Berkey but filtered a bit faster.

This is a great product so far. The quality of the water is great, it just takes a bit of priming to get it going!
