It's just a steamer, a rather good one. We just pour an ounce or two of tap water in the bottom, add a package of frozen vegetables and set the microwave timer for six to eight minutes on high depending on the vegetable package instructions. When cooking fresh corn on the cob we add the water, set the timer for six minutes, then turn the cobs around and rotate them then cook for another 6 minutes on high. It's really great for tamales in the husk we freeze ourselves, steam two for six minutes on high turning half way through, add more time if necessary. I also steam shredded fresh potatoes after rinsing the excess starch off in a colander for six minutes on high to precook them before frying as hash browns in hot oil. Works for onions too before slow caramelizing for use in French Onion Soup. It's really easy to use, which is why there are no instructions included in the box. An instruction sheet for the microwave should be downloadable from the manufacturer's site, and the model number tag should be inside the door.

Yes. I buy about 2 + lbs of green beans a week & they fit.

I imagine this steamer will work in the model you have listed because I purchased it to use in a Maytag microwave and it works great. Even if there is a different steamer made and recommended by whirlpool for your model microwave, this one will still work.
