Bonsai Jack® is top notch. Jack's Gritty Mix is some of the best Succulent and Cactus Soil available on the market. It is a high quality product, and it also looks great! It will give your plants a whole new aesthetic. It is a fast draining soil mix that your plants will love. I purchased Jack's Gritty Mix primarily for a lithops project. My lithops love Jack's Gritty Mix!After this purchase, I bought another 3 gallons of Jack's Gritty Mix directly from Bonsai Jack®. I highly recommend both Bonsai Jack® and Jack's Gritty Mix.!In the photos: Jack's is on the left and a bonsai gritty mix I also bought is on the right. The bonsai mix is slightly more "colorful", it has a larger grit size overall, and it is lacking the biomass nutrients that Jack's contains (pine coir).

My cacti and succulents love it. It's a little expensive but really easy to use. I add a little pumus to help stretch out it's use but you definately don't have to.

I got this specifically for my Lithops. It is super well draining which is a must for them and they are doing really well so far! I really like how it looks too.

I've had lots of success with succulents growing in this mix. I'm a repeat buyer. Expensive for what it is though. But since I don't buy plants often and because I've had bad luck with cheaper products, for me it's worth it. If you like to budget what I do is mix this with a succulent potting soil. Almost create layers of the rock mix and succulent soil to help even out the cost. Haven't had issues with cactus or succulents growing this way. It also helps when using larger planters because you go thru the small bag very quickly when using medium to large planters and 3-5 succulent plants. Especially because I always go larger to allow the plants to grow and spread over time.

I just transplanted my baby cacti into this medium and I really liked working with it. I think it will be great and prevent the root rot problems I was having with traditional succulent soil. This product does not have any soil quality to it, so if you prefer to have a bit more of a soil effect, you will need to add your preferred growth medium to create the blend you want. I also like that it added some stability to my cacti, and a bit of weight to the pot so they're less likely to tip over. I bought the smaller bag and it was perfect. I don't like to have a lot of stuff sitting around cluttering up my space. It is a tad more expensive than traditional succulent growth mediums, but well worth the value for the quality.
