Good quality, great for leather work
GREAT for leather working! I had been using a glover's needle to stitch leather, but with an awl and these needles there's no need to use SHARP glover's needle. The rounded tip wont snag on the sides of the opening created by the awl so it's much much easier to work with thick leather now. They DO have a rounded tip, so they are not useful for piercing leather, just useful after you have a hole made. I was impressed by the quality of the actual metal used to make these: I expected them to be flimsy and break easily but they're definitely not flimsy and don't break unless you use them incorrectly.

Not a replacement for "Stitcher Awl" Needles!
Amazon groups this item with the stitching awl, and like a dumbass I didn't read close enough to confirm if I was purchasing what I needed (replacement needles for the awl). However, these needles are great! Cheap and strong! Just like I like my coffee! I stitched a new sewing palm for myself, and these needles are tough! Even when I grabbed a needle by the eye with my pliers and had to twist to get the needle through 3 layers of leather and 2 of rawhide, it didn't break! Most needles, when subjected to the misguided abuse I put them through, snap at the eye. Some even when I'm using my fingers! I foresee many sails and gear being stitched in both manufacturing and repairs with these needles!

Stitching needles
I preveously used regular sewing needles to sew my first sewing project. It came out alright but because the needles were so sharp they pierced the thread when I did the saddle stitch procedure and kind of messed it up. With these needles and some studying of some Utube videos I can do a lot better job at stitching. The blunt tips makes a big difference. You will need these needles If you plan to do any leather stitching. Be careful if you use a pair of pliers to pull/push the needles through the leather. Avoid grabbing the needle around the eye. It will break. My fault.

Good for all around use
These are good quality needles for leather that is between card-stock thin, and boot thickness. Any thicker leather than that you might need to use an awl needle, but for the most part, these should be able to handle the majority of leathers that you can throw at them while using finger reinforcement (thimble, glove, etc). For thicker leathers you typically have holes started already with an additional tool, so this does not take any stars away for that. I will purchase again when they inevitably get lost or bent from use.

Better than expected.
Durable and exactly was I needed to help finish off a project that needed leather straps. I would've taken me forever to do it without it. The needles are all the same size. I've used one on a very hard project and expected it to break or bend, but it held up great with no issues whatsoever. I only needed one of the needles to do the project, but it's awesome to have 9 to spare!

It's a standard leather stitching needle
It's a standard leather stitching needle. if you do leather work then you must keep extras on hand because they do eventually crack from stresses.

I am a hobby knife maker and as a result I make quite a lot of leather knife sheaths and assorted leather odds and sods. These needles are excellent for leather work especially on really thick leather (3mm) that I use for my sheath work. I mainly do what is called saddle stitching for my sheath work which is using two needles at the same time and must have used the same two needles for over a year now so longevity is definitely very good. Just a hint that might help you... I slightly waxed my needles and this really helps to get them through the thick leather a lot easier. I still have plenty of these needles left given I have been using the same ones for a long time but once I finally need to buy some more I will happily buy these again.
