Ever bought a USB flash drive that requires a 42 page user manual to explain how to use it? Well, if you get one of these, that's what you need to do. In fact, download the user guide and read it before buying one to see if it's right for you. While you're at it, do the same with Apricorn's Aegis flash drive and compare as it's a viable alternative. If you just want to encrypt files, there's easier, cheaper alternatives (search "paranoiaworks"). I went for the Pro2 model which is the super deluxe version and costs 8-10 times more than a regular flash drive. Go big or go home. It's basically a self contained computer. You start by creating an administrator ID and then establish various parameters (password strength policy, device timeout, bootable, self-destruct password etc.) and then optionally user IDs which can be read-only or read/write. I would recommend only using it with a user ID since it only deletes the ID if you fail to enter the password correctly too many times. If you fail with the administrative ID, it resets the drive completely. I set mine up as a live Linux (MX-Linux) drive with a NTFS data partition. Give me an Intel based computer with a USB port and a network connection and I'm good to go. In fact, my drive along with my hardware authenticator key is now my office. The major caveat of this device is that it does run on a rechargeable battery. It it gets too low, the device erases itself, so don't put your super secret files on it and lock it in a safe for six months because it'll probably be blank when you try to access it. There is no capability whatsoever to recover the device once it's erased.

The flash drive feels very sturdy to hold. The battery was dead upon opening, though, I could program the pins while it plugged on a USB port. An inconvenience for sure, but, it still works. Was able to operate on its own power after leaving it charging for about 30mins. Personally, data feels safe and protected with this device, but, only time will tell on its long term reliability.

Malgré le coût non négligeable, je dois dire que cette clé répond bien à mes attentes. Le chiffrement de l'information passant par un système ne dépendant pas d'une solution logicielle est un VRAI ATOUT! La configuration de plusieurs profils est certes un peu hasardeuse pour un néophyte mais s'appréhende très facilement grâce à la documentation PDF (Une copie avec lien HTTP fourni sur la clé) Le clavier numérique ne marque pas, même avec le temps. A noter que je n'ai pas testé si le revêtement met en évidence lesdites traces sous lampe UV. La structure respire la solidité malgré une grande taille laissant un léger inconvénient à l'utilisation sur un PC portable se baladant de salles de réunion en salles de réunion. Côté étanchéité, cela correspond bien à l'annonce. Malgré tout, j'ai un doute concernant l'efficacité du joint dans le temps. Le fait de systématiquement le pincer avec le cache et l'accumulation possible de poussières et d'impuretés plus ou moins invisible à l’œil nu pourrait en effet, altérer ces performances. Enfin, on regrettera que l'ensemble alu des précédentes versions, ne laisse place à un mélange plastique/alu, qui est malgré tout de bonne facture. A voir....

I have used this product for nearly 3 years now, it works great and I have yet to have a single issue with it. I would highly recommend to anyone. Definitely worth the money. The only concern I had and I'll share it, is the inconvenience of the size, because it is difficult to fit and keep on my keys so I just put it in my pocket instead.
