Here are a few installation tips. First, there is a flat side on one of the "ears" (hard to see in the pics) and that will align with a flat spot on one of the ears of the valve body. Second, be sure to put the lever in the center between any actual position before beginning to tighten the screws. This will compress the spring up and let you install the valve without putting any pressure on the top as you tighten the screws. If you don't do that, then there's a very good chance you will break off on or more of the points where the screws go in. The material this is made of is VERY brittle. Snug all of the screws but do not tighten them. Once they are all snugged down, then tighten them one at a time and go diagonally across from screw to screw. I would also suggest you replace the O ring and use some waterproof lubricant to help the seal... seal. I also added a bit of lubricant on the face of the gasket inside the valve body. Hope this helps someone. If you don't do these things there's a very good chance you will be ordering another one very shortly.

Bought this may 2019 and by August 2020 it developed a slow split/crack. It was installed correctly being sure to not over tighten the bolts. Received ZERO help from Hayward. Causes filter tank to drain and pump to loose its prime.

This turned out to be a perfect fit and a great deal. I saved a substantial amount vs my local pool company and the product is exactly the same. The installation is easier than easy and if you work on your own pool equipment I would definitely suggest this! A++++++++

I had the old style, flat wide handle. The top developed a small crack, so I had to replace it. This handle lifts the inside higher making it easier to disengage. Works lake a champ. The company, “in the swim” was stellar in their response to a missing part I had also ordered. Quickly corrected. I’ve bookmarked them for future orders. 10 bolt pattern. If you alternate like a car rim, it snugs up wonderfully. No leaks! I’m happy with this purchase

If you are ordering this for an older DE/Sand filter, remember this. All the options on this one is reversed. What I mean is, the Backwash is where the Filtering is and vice verse. I called Hayward and they told me how to set it to match the old handle and they are sending me a sticker to match the old one. When you get it all you have to do is remove the pin and rotate 180 degrees and that will set it up like your old unit. I recommend to call Hayward and have them guild you on swapping it then ask them to send you a sticker free of charge. Hope this helps. :)
