A great solution for the right use case. See my 5-point user observations…
TLDR: Old-timey tech that works well and stays warm for a good 12 hours if kept under the bed covers. Full review: The Peterpan hot water bottle is a simple, eco-friendly way to make a too-cold bedroom more comfortable during cold weather. I have found this to be an ideal solution that allows me to avoid the running costs and dry air associated with using a space heater, or the potential EMF/environmental concerns of modern electric blankets—which are invariably made out of cheap, polyester fleece. I use it to warm the foot of the bed by placing under the top sheet and blankets and it makes a huge difference in cold weather comfort, staying warm for a complete night of sleep plus a few hours more if you are lazing in bed at the weekends. After using it continuously for a couple of weeks, I can report that this is a quality item; thick and well made with a well-designed cap that is leak free. Key Design/Function Points: 1. The large capacity and thick rubber construction enable it to radiate gentle, controlled heat for a long time. 2. If you are considering a Japanese-style ‘yutanpo’ hot water bottle for a similar use-case, keep in mind that they become scalding hot and you must use a thick cover to blunt the heat to safe levels. Also, that efficient heat transfer means the yutanpo will dump most of its heat within a few hours. This model of Peterpan is similar in capacity but the design is much more practical for daily, household use. 3. Although this model comes with a nice, zippered cover, I find it to be unnecessary. The thick rubber construction is enough on its own to slow the heat transfer to a gentle, consistent warmth—even when filled with scalding hot water from the faucet. 4. RE the cover, using it does make the bottle easier to position and/or move if using it as a bed warmer because it allows the bottle to slide around, as opposed to the textured rubber of the bare bottle which grips the bed linens and wants to stay in place. But the grippiness is a benefit for the way I use it. 5. I have also used this bottle to relieve joint pain and it’s great, but for that purpose I recommend filling to only around 50-75% capacity so that it is more flexible and can then drape over the target area for better contact. Thanks for reading my review!

Amazing technology!!
My doctor advised me to get a heating pad and/or a hot water bottle to ease the pain in my back. The electric heating pad was fast but even on medium it got very hot, even when covered with its little slipcover and a dish towel. I disliked the way the heat felt sharp and realized I also didn't like the idea of being draped in electrical wires for even a short period of time. Browsing Amazon, I looked up rubber hot water bottles. Weren't that many still made of rubber, but of the few I found this one by Peter Pan stood out. It is 56% rubber instead of a synthetic material de jure and thru the text and reviews I got an education on how to use one. But I wasn't prepared for how terrific this rather antiquated piece of equipment is. It can be filled about 3/4 full with boiling water. If you squeeze out the remaining air before you screw in the plug the bottle will remain warm and cozy 7 hours later! It is very hot to the touch after you've filled it, so the handle on the shoulder makes so much sense because it makes the filling and handling much simpler, safer and less awkward than the cheaper version I got at the drug store (which had no handle and would not allow boiling water.) Peter Pan sends along a little cloth case with a zipper closure to keep it properly fitted to the bottle. I quickly came to appreciate this the first time I filled it as initially the bottle is piping hot. But the thing that has amazed me most is the glorious comfort of the heat radiating from this water bottle. It is so soothing and comfortable on aching muscles...way more pleasant than a stiff rectangle of cloth containing stiff electrical wires. Now I confess, at seventy-five, I'd never used a hot water bottle before, so perhaps those who have will not be surprised at my revelation. But for those of you who haven't, if you need the relief of some steady, soothing heat on sore, painful joints and muscles, and want to avoid EMF exposure, treat yourself to this sturdy, well made, rubber hot water bottle. Such a simple, practical and enduring technology from the nineteenth century! It greatly aided in my recouperation, but now I'm using it nightly since it's equally great in a chilly bed for cold feet!

Satisfied.
A post-script to the review below. I was impressed that the folks at Peter Pan contacted me about the problem below. Apparantly this problem is very unusual and is due to the high rubber content. Rubber is better for retaining heat in my ever so humble opinion. I would recommend this item wholeheartedly. I've been using this nightly and I like it.. It holds the heat very well and the ribbed surface. So I'm pleased with my purchase. Really good size. One problem: When I tried to fill it the first time I discovered the inner walls were stuck together which stopped water from entering so water would just gush ou again. Luckily I was using not very hot water. Could haveen nasty! By slowly allowing warm water to run into the bottle and by pushing a wooden spatula down inside, I got the walls to separate. No problems since.

Large strong hot water bottle works very well.
Good thick hot water bottle, large capacity. Has a good cloth cover. I fill it every night for my wife. It's too long to hold under the faucet in the kitchen, so I fill a 2-cup measuring cup and pour it in (3 times). Squeezing all the air out before tightening the screw all the way makes it behave better (doesn't slosh around in the bed).

Old fashioned hot water bottle
It’s an old fashioned hot water bottle. It doesn’t take much effort to tighten and unscrew the plug. It didn’t leak one drop. The only thing I’d note is to be extremely careful when emptying the water bottle because the water doesn’t come out in a single stream and can burn someone if not careful.

“Delivery was super fast! Very good thick quality rubber and nice big size.” No leaking! I couldn’t choose between the one with handle 2.5L and the xxx super extra large 3L with protection cover... so I bought both. And finally love them both. They will be very useful for the longest time. They also have smaller size and shapes. I highly recommend these products. You will not find any like these elsewhere.

I purchased the Peter Pan XL hot water bottle in January, and was very pleased with the item. The thick rubber walls of the bottle retained the heat quite well, and I liked the carry handle at the top. When I first used the hot water bottle, I thought "I must put a string on the stopper and handle so that I don't lose the stopper;" which, of course, I forgot to do--the stopper became lost. When I contacted the Peter Pan company, requesting a replacement stopper, they were very speedy with help, and quickly resent my order. Excellent customer service! I have now attached a string to the stopper to the handle--no more lost stoppers.

This water bottle has great thickness and durability, but as a result it doesn't get very hot. Handle is fantastic for holding during refills and for carrying. It does hold heat in very well and makes a great couch buddy for cold days spent reading or watching movies. Overall good product but too pricey for what you get.

Most hot water bottles are made poorly. Looks well constructed and have had no issues.
