Optional 2 year warranty for extra cost - if you put it in your shopping basket Amazon brings up a dialog box offering it, when I did it today the extra warranty was £57 something. Statutory warranty under the UK's Consumer Rights Act 2015: By law, goods are faulty if they're not of Satisfactory quality As Described Fit for purpose And last a Reasonable length of Time. This is true even if you buy items during a sale or with discount vouchers. You also have the right to return it for a full refund (but maybe less p&p) whether it's faulty or not under your 'automatic right to reject' within 30 days - do it by Amazon's self-service method (access via your account page, next to the order for the goods) or do LiveChat with Amazon.

Hi, This will only work with your Mac if you format to you MAC (Journaled) or buy a third party NTFS compatible software

Regardless of the manufacturer's voluntary warranty they can't limit you to a fixed period - any manufacturer warranty is IN ADDITION to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 whereby, according to the Consumer Association which publishes 'Which?', goods are faulty if they're not of Satisfactory quality As Described Fit for purpose And last a Reasonable length of Time (aide memoire acronym SADFART). This applies even if you buy items during a sale or with discount vouchers. It's a bit more complicated: you are entitled to a full refund whether an item is faulty or not (and you don't have to return the packaging but if an item's not faulty it's expected/civil to do so) "due to what’s called your ‘short-term right to reject’. After that, only expect an exchange, repair or part-refund. Within 6 months: The shop must prove the item wasn't faulty when the transaction took place. After that, you must prove it was." (says the Consumer Association). The ultimate cut-off is 6 years as that's the limitation period for taking items to court - google this for the details. Under distance-selling regulations, customers are entitled to a full refund – including the basic delivery charge – as per the quoted regulations*, provided they cancel the order within 14 days. Amazon's voluntarily extended the "automatic right to reject" to 30 days, and this year their cut-off is 31.1.22 for many items; note that the timing of the delivery is immaterial, and that the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 state that delivery charges should be refunded. It sounds complicated but maybe Copy & Paste this info, verify it at the Consumers Association website, and keep it for future reference. Otherwise it's amazing how consumers are confused (possibly with encouragement from ignorant or unscrupulous sellers) into thinking that the warranty is 30 days online and 1 year's manufacturer's guarantee - the law doesn't limit the warranty to anything like as short as that!
