Taxidermy

I was worried that this book would be kind of gaudy due to the subject matter and previous taxidermy books I have seen in person. I took a chance on it though and was thrilled. I got it for my little sister for christmas and she loved it! Filled with beautiful photographs, she spent all morning looking through it!

This books is old school - so gorgeously designed, so many lovely little details. It's haunting and artistic and interesting. I think taxidermy is a tacky and distasteful art form (I'm the kind of animal lover who doesn't eat mammals or birds), but I have to admit this book won me over. It's good to learn about other cultures. Good history lesson, too.

Nicely done. As a former big game hunter with a collection of mounts in my home I can appreciate the skill by which the author presented and selected the various specimens. A welcome addition to my book collection. Joe Berg

Taxidermy is a book about just that- taxidermy. The photos are wonderful, and the book gives fantastic insight into taxidermy's history, as well as featuring some artists who are using taxidermy artistically in a modern fashion.

I wasn't sure what to expect but this is a very beautiful book at a great price. I highly recommend it.

Evidence that fascination with a subject can come from nothing more than an expertly written yet widely accessible book filled with a wonder of photos and information. In several, broad ranging chapters Turner covers the history of Taxidermy, various fads and phases (the good and bad) through to the modern place for taxidermy in fashion, art and the home. These are engagingly written, highlights rather than in depth essays but full of wonder and insight. The book is 80% photos, which is reasonable considering the subject is a visual one and the quality of those are very good. It's a book you can spend time with again and again and is certainly a conversation point if anyone spots it on the "coffee table". Just beware what they might be thinking of for your next birthday present ...

Un livre très beau , belle qualité des photos . Les textes sont en Anglais mais pour ceux qui ne maitrisent pas cette langue ca n est pas très important car les photos parlent d elles mêmes .

Realmente es un libro muy bonito, tanto la presentaciòn del mismo como por su contenido. El texto es interesante y las fotos muy buenas.

Defiantly a great book :) I got the newer version when I was in london and then I thought this might have a serie but turn out this book is exactly the one I purchased before ! Shame on me,only different cover designs. But I love it anyways, so now I have one at home one in my studio . Super fast shipping and very reasonable price !
