Klein Tools D2000-49 Pliers, Diagonal Cutting Pliers with Heavy-Duty Cutting Knives, Short Jaws and Dual Material Grips, 9-Inch, Yellow

This is a professional grade tool. I had to cut hundreds of ring shank nails, construction staples, assorted screws, and other miscellaneous fasteners. Some were concealed up underneath hardieboard planks. These nippers are longer than all the competition at 9 inches. That gives them more reach and more leverage. The cutting edges are really hardened extremely well. After hundreds of cuts, not even a little ding in either of the cutting blades. The blue plastic on the handles makes a nicely padded, easy to grip, and comfortable to use tool. These are a bit expensive, but if you want a pro grade job that does what it is supposed to do, here you go.

I wasn't sure if I really needed these since i already had some side cuts, but I love it. Great for getting metal cable staples out without hurting the cable too.

I bought the following four wire cutters and compared them: KNIPEX - 74 01 250 SBA Tools - High Leverage Diagonal Cutters (7401250SBA), Crescent 8" Pro Series Diagonal Compound Action Dual Material Cutting Pliers - PS5429C, Klein Tools D2000-49 Pliers, Diagonal Cutting Pliers with Heavy-Duty Cutting Knives, Short Jaws and Dual Material Grips, 9-Inch , Yellow, and OEMTOOLS 22609 8" Mini Bolt Cutters | Cuts 5mm Medium Hard Wire, 4 mm Hard Wire, & 3.6 mm Piano Wire, Plus Bolts, Nails, & Rivets | Highly Portable Mini Bolt Cutters | Chrome Moly Steel, Green. I was surprised to find that they all cut 1/16 inch piano wire with ease and no apparent damage to the cutter edges. I put the Crescent’s on my tool belt because they weigh the least; they have sheet metal handles instead of forged handles. All are comfortable to use. The Crescent and OEMTOOLs have springs that open the cutter and catches for storing the tools with the cutter closed. The Klein was a little stiff but after opening and closing many times, they became easier to use with one hand. My favorite, ignoring weight, is the Knipex because it has the longest handles but really, they all work well.

I'm a big fan of Klein Tools, have a number of them, and typically give them 5 stars. However, the pair of these pliers I received had a bit of rust on them, which I found odd for a brand new pair of pliers. Hence my 4-star review. Overall, however, I'm glad I have these in my toolbox now. Their long handles allow for better leverage to get into some tight spots that I might not otherwise be able to because my hand won't fit. The soft grip on the handles make them comfortable and easy to use. They feel heavy duty and I was able to cut through heavy-duty plastic packaging, as well as wire and nails, with the similar ease. Nicely done, Klein Tools!

Typical KLEIN quality tool!

I bought these for my mother who does floral arrangements. She has arthritis and it's hard for her to cut thick, multiple thick wired stems. She was able to cut through a 4 wire stem encased in plastic easily and the length of the handles gave her plenty of leverage. Will be buying her the small set for smaller florals and small guaged floral wire.

These are in my opinion the best side cutters a tradesman can buy, period! I lost a pair that was nearly 15 years old and they still worked as good as day one.
